[16:02] CDB Barkley: We've been running this open meetups since August 2006

[16:02] Alphabunny Jewell: thanks CDB

[16:02] Cvannabo Hotshot: THank you

[16:02] CDB Barkley: Mainly as a time/place for people interested in SL/teaching to gather

[16:02] CDB Barkley: sometimes we have discussions, sometimes field triips

[16:02] CDB Barkley: Mostly unstructured ;-)

[16:02] CDB Barkley: More info at http://sl.nmc.org/wiki/Teachers_Buzz_Session

[16:03] CDB Barkley: So how many people have to deal with helping brand new SL users?

[16:03] Arwenna Stardust: I can't usually make this time so it is great to be here for the first time

[16:03] RobertKlein Dogpatch: LOL

[16:03] Mari Asturias raises her hand

[16:03] Arwenna Stardust: yes I do

[16:03] Stargazer Blazer: I do

[16:03] RobertKlein Dogpatch: I am a Mentor Coach too :)

[16:03] Itsak Goldblatt: I'm new myself.

[16:03] CDB Barkley: Does anyone remember fondly their first experience on the SL Orientation Island?

[16:03] RobertKlein Dogpatch: 50 to 100 each day

[16:03] Mari Asturias: :-)

[16:03] Stargazer Blazer: Yes

[16:03] Arwenna Stardust giggles

[16:03] Arwenna Stardust: oh yes

[16:03] CDB Barkley: Wow, RobertKlien!

[16:03] CDB Barkley: Maybe you cna lead this one

[16:03] Art Fossett: yes... the first words said to me were 'you're ugly'

[16:03] Omnia Oh: ciao simo

[16:04] Art Fossett: lol

[16:04] RobertKlein Dogpatch: LOL

[16:04] CDB Barkley: It seems that a lot of people can lose interest right there

[16:04] Simone Lupino: ciao omnia

[16:04] RobertKlein Dogpatch: It is definitley not for the impatioent

[16:04] Palani Allen: Sure do!

[16:04] CDB Barkley: And you know the learning curve for SL is near vertical

[16:04] Devorah Corvale: yes

[16:04] CDB Barkley: So last year, they opened the code so other otgs could have their own web site for creating SL accounts...

[16:05] CDB Barkley: The RegistrationAPI for coders

[16:05] CDB Barkley: What this means is that new SL users could create their accounts at secondlife.com... or, as we did, we have our own form at http://sl.nmc.org/join/

[16:05] CDB Barkley: It uses the same technology to communicate and create and SL account but...

[16:06] CDB Barkley: what you can do is designate another location for new users to land, when they first enter world, so you can create your own orientation experience

[16:06] CDB Barkley: That is what this sim is all about

[16:06] CDB Barkley: But I dont want to talk about techie stuff

[16:06] Art Fossett: hurrah

[16:07] CDB Barkley: We thought long and hard about the process, and solicted info...

[16:07] CDB Barkley: Sometimes you want a fast Orientation- like a 5 minute this is how you walk, fly, etc

[16:07] CDB Barkley: But there mght be times when you want something more in depth

[16:07] CDB Barkley: Or... our thought is, why not create a place to return to?

[16:07] CDB Barkley: for refreshers

[16:07] Mari Asturias nods

[16:07] CDB Barkley: He Corwin!

[16:08] Corwin Carillon: hiya CDB!

[16:08] CDB Barkley: I dont want to talk a whole lot

[16:08] Arwenna Stardust: Hi Corwin

[16:08] CDB Barkley: What we decided to do os to intro NMC Orientartion, and then have you explore a bit

[16:08] Corwin Carillon: HI Arwena, Mari, Art

[16:08] CDB Barkley: And we will convene at say 4:40 PM PST for some more discussion.

[16:08] Mari Asturias: Where would you like us to meet back up?

[16:09] CDB Barkley: Will let you know!

[16:09] Art Fossett: hi corwin

[16:09] CDB Barkley: I will just talk quickly over these auto advancing slides, that makes sure I dont blabber on

[16:09] CDB Barkley: This is a freebie store we have

[16:09] CDB Barkley: and a video circle with Torley videos

[16:09] CDB Barkley: This is the Waterside cafe

[16:10] CDB Barkley: where we meet later

[16:10] CDB Barkley: This is a map of te sim

[16:10] CDB Barkley: This is where brand new users land, the quick orientation

[16:10] CDB Barkley: just down the slope

[16:10] CDB Barkley: This is aheat map of one weeks activity

[16:10] CDB Barkley: Some stats on our account usage

[16:10] CDB Barkley: Neaeby us the Mission district

[16:11] CDB Barkley: with more in depth tutotrials

[16:11] CDB Barkley: Wow, that was way too fast.

[16:11] CDB Barkley: If you can open up your maps

[16:11] CDB Barkley: I will try and descrbe where things are

[16:11] CDB Barkley: Ok?

[16:11] RobertKlein Dogpatch: y

[16:11] Art Fossett: ok

[16:12] Arwenna Stardust: k

[16:12] CDB Barkley: The big map, blue "Map" button

[16:12] CDB Barkley: We are at the default landing location, where most of the green dots are

[16:12] CDB Barkley: Just down the path behind Corwin, or to the west of us...

[16:12] CDB Barkley: Is the "basic" orientation

[16:12] CDB Barkley: This is where brand new avatars land

[16:13] CDB Barkley: In the lower left, where there is one gren dot

[16:13] CDB Barkley: Is the "Pier of Culture"

[16:13] CDB Barkley: intended to be a place to learn all about the culture, language, of SL,s tuff most of us learned by experience

[16:13] CDB Barkley: The gret line down the middle is the Mission District, whch is adjancet to here

[16:14] CDB Barkley: This is a series of displays of more in depth topics

[16:14] CDB Barkley: And there are some videos, and audio to help out

[16:14] CDB Barkley: There is a trolley car that goes back and forth

[16:14] CDB Barkley: It cannot hurt you ;-)

[16:14] CDB Barkley: On the east or right side is thr SL education diistrict

[16:14] CDB Barkley: With some more educational resources

[16:15] CDB Barkley: It is modeled after buildings at Stanford, berkeley

[16:15] CDB Barkley: The place we will meet in 30 minutes...

[16:15] CDB Barkley: is the Waterside Cafe, which is in the NW corner (top right)

[16:15] CDB Barkley: There are some chairs and a piano ;-)

[16:16] CDB Barkley: So all we are suggesting is to explore one or more area, and see how this fits into your own experience sof bringing in newbies

[16:16] Art Fossett: ok, sounds good

[16:16] CDB Barkley: And we are still working on increasing the resources for people who might want to return here

[16:17] CDB Barkley: Does everyone know what's happening?

[16:17] Mari Asturias nods

[16:17] Arwenna Stardust: yep

[16:17] RobertKlein Dogpatch: y

[16:17] Boris Grommet: Yes

[16:17] CDB Barkley: I will send an estate message when it is time

[16:17] Art Fossett: yep

[16:17] Devorah Corvale: yes, thanks

[16:17] Cvannabo Hotshot: yes

[16:17] Palani Allen: oh yeah

[16:17] Itsak Goldblatt: Sure. See you in 30.

[16:17] Corwin Carillon: Maybe self-group and go to one location

[16:18] Corwin Carillon: 2-3 people to one location

[16:19] CDB Barkley: So the area behind you has advanced topics. or more in depth

[16:19] CDB Barkley: New users end up at the area at the bottom of this ramp

[16:20] CDB Barkley: This is kind of hard without LMs

[16:20] CDB Barkley: People have to fly to get to the pier ;-)

[16:20] CDB Barkley: How are you?

[16:20] Corwin Carillon: but newbies won't have LMs either so good :

[16:20] Corwin Carillon: :)

[16:20] CDB Barkley: I forgot to count, but we had a good chunk of new folks as usual

[16:20] Corwin Carillon: a bit jetlagged but otherwise ok

[16:20] CDB Barkley: True

[16:21] CDB Barkley: 2 days back or 1?

[16:21] Corwin Carillon: got back Sat your time

[16:21] CDB Barkley: Wow, the map shows they spread ut nicely

[16:21] Corwin Carillon: yep :-))

[16:23] CDB Barkley: Oh, I cannot send message to estate

[16:23] CDB Barkley: Hi Ellie

[16:25] Corwin Carillon: Hi Doug

[16:25] Doug Whittaker: Hi Corwin

[16:25] Ellie Brewster: I sent Larry a message asking him about how you guys were able to address the whole sim at the Sessions on Creativity last year

[16:25] CDB Barkley: Welcome

[16:25] Ellie Brewster: I've been trying to figure that out.

[16:25] Corwin Carillon: Doug, we just sent folks out to explore the different parts of this place ....

[16:26] CDB Barkley: What do you mean "address"

[16:26] Doug Whittaker: okey dokey

[16:26] Ellie Brewster: Seems it would help a lot to be able to talk to everyone at once

[16:26] CDB Barkley: audi>

[16:26] CDB Barkley: Oh.

[16:26] Ellie Brewster: Larry talked to us - like a PA system.

[16:26] CDB Barkley: We use a streaming server to the music channel

[16:26] Corwin Carillon: and we will convene at the Waterside Cafe at 4.45ish

[16:26] Ellie Brewster: That sounds a bit complicated for me.

[16:26] CDB Barkley: email me, I can try and explain

[16:26] CDB Barkley: alan@nmc.org

[16:26] Ellie Brewster: OK, thanks

[16:27] Ellie Brewster: So Corwin, how are your classes going?

[16:27] Corwin Carillon: I don't really run classes Ellie ... do some orientations for prospective faculty

[16:27] CDB Barkley: Have you all explored a bit?

[16:28] CDB Barkley: Have you rode the trolley? ;-)

[16:28] Ellie Brewster: I really like what you've done on Borcay

[16:28] Corwin Carillon: ty :)

[16:29] Alphabunny Jewell: CDB, unfortunately I crashed, anything specific i need to know before attending more of the events?

[16:29] Alphabunny Jewell: either :)

[16:29] Alphabunny Jewell: mostly future

[16:29] Ellie Brewster: Well, I have seen a lot of this, but I think I'll poke around for a bit -- see you in the cafe

[16:29] CDB Barkley: We advertise all events on http://sl.nmc.org

[16:45] Fleep Tuque: hehe

[16:45] Corwin Carillon: hehe

[16:45] CDB Barkley: and we are not looking for lavish praise, but just to hear ideas, especially as we have a lot of experienced people here

[16:45] Misha Writer: pls post - I missed the "great idea" you're all enthusing about!

[16:45] Mari Asturias throws CDB lavishly lavish praise

[16:45] Fleep Tuque: I have a couple of feedback items from faculty

[16:45] Corwin Carillon: the pros and the CONS

[16:45] CDB Barkley: about what is essential or needed for a "good" orientation experience

[16:45] CDB Barkley: fire away

[16:46] CDB Barkley puts on his teflon fur

[16:46] Fleep Tuque: The things they like most: The San Francsico theme, the well marked paths, the trolley car, and the freebies

[16:46] Fleep Tuque: The things they suggested be worked on: The text on the signs is too small for many, especially as they aren't very good with the camera

[16:46] Fleep Tuque: (can't figure out how to zoom in)

[16:46] CDB Barkley: Stargazer, can I repeat your IM?

[16:46] Fleep Tuque: Sure

[16:46] CDB Barkley: Thanks Fleep

[16:47] Fleep Tuque: And some were confused about the choices

[16:47] Fleep Tuque: Weren't sure what they SHOULD do next

[16:47] Fleep Tuque: That's it from my folks. :)

[16:47] CDB Barkley: That's great.

[16:47] CDB Barkley: I got this from Stargazer via IM

[16:47] CDB Barkley: Stargazer Blazer: I went to the culture pier. I liked the subjects you talked about there. My sugestion is to increase the size of the text boxes, they should be readable from default camera view [16:46] Stargazer Blazer: I'm not sure I get the lovely fruit all about, I mean, I get that it's a market, but I wonder if new residents would be confused by the food.

[16:47] Devorah Corvale: I too liked the SF part, but it might be difficult to go from the podcast back to SL.

[16:47] Mari Asturias: The folks that I've been orienting here... for the most part do VERY well.. However, 2 things are problematic: 1. Not knowing Camera Controls right off (so I teach them first) and I swear.. about 75% of folks fall off the ramp from the beginning to the street

[16:48] CDB Barkley: yes

[16:48] CDB Barkley: Ouch!

[16:48] Fleep Tuque: hehe

[16:48] Mari Asturias: I would really like to suggest railings

[16:48] Fleep Tuque: (Camera controls are a biggie)

[16:48] Mari Asturias: it frustrates them

[16:48] Alrightme Ansome: i used it a few weeks back to create this avatar (I'm art fossett really) - very good - but...

[16:48] Mari Asturias: lol

[16:48] Fleep Tuque: I was just reading somewhere else, CDB

[16:48] Fleep Tuque: that some folks are using invisible prims along walk ways in newbie areas

[16:48] Mari Asturias: also.. those steps are hard to the ramp

[16:48] Fleep Tuque: I thought that was a great idea and plan to implement that in places on our campus

[16:48] CDB Barkley: Keep 'em on the right path?

[16:48] Fleep Tuque: To help bump people along the path yes

[16:49] Fleep Tuque: so they don't fall off

[16:49] Fleep Tuque: and still keep the open aesthetic

[16:49] Alrightme Ansome: this space was very empty when i got here

[16:49] Mari Asturias: so I might suggest a transparent ramp over the stairs so they can walk up eaeasier

[16:49] Mari Asturias: ah.. good idea Fleep

[16:49] Devorah Corvale: the newbie area is well-designed, much easier to understand than SL orientation isle

[16:49] Arwenna Stardust: One of the things that I think is really important with newbies is that things are as predictable as possible - too many choices can be a problem -

[16:49] Fleep Tuque: That's a good idea to Mari, ramps on steps

[16:49] Alrightme Ansome: the normal orientation area is busy - too busy... but this place was too empty

[16:49] Fleep Tuque: Well the empty is something you can't do too much about except try to drive more traffic.

[16:49] CDB Barkley: We have been hoping to develop a mentor program...

[16:49] Alrightme Ansome: yes, agreed this is much easier to understand and better laid out

[16:49] Devorah Corvale: I agree about too many choices

[16:49] CDB Barkley: to have some docents like ISTE

[16:49] Fleep Tuque: Ahh a mentor program, that's a great idea.

[16:50] Devorah Corvale: in the beginning it was easier to focus on one or two things at a time

[16:50] Devorah Corvale: but then I am not a gamer

[16:50] Mari Asturias: Yes.. it's empty... but that makes it easy to bring small groups in

[16:50] Arwenna Stardust: Yes Devorah I agree

[16:50] Fleep Tuque: ISTE and Alliance both do that.

[16:50] CDB Barkley: And for those with classes, feel free to schedule your own group tours here

[16:50] Mari Asturias: How do we schedule?

[16:50] Lively Paderborn: do we need to inform anyone if we do that

[16:50] CDB Barkley: You dont need to ask

[16:50] Fleep Tuque: Oops, I haven't been doing that

[16:50] Fleep Tuque: just coming in whenever

[16:50] CDB Barkley: Just schedule it yourself

[16:50] Lively Paderborn: okay

[16:50] Alrightme Ansome: needs a kind of staffed 'welcome desk'... a bit like the library reference desk

[16:50] Mari Asturias: me too

[16:51] CDB Barkley: Good one

[16:51] Devorah Corvale: thanks

[16:51] Arwenna Stardust: Also there are a couple of things on the Pier that say click here but don't react -

[16:51] Vardalek Paine: CDB do you folks have any private spaces for newbie classes? that we could trade for some mentoring or something?

[16:51] CDB Barkley: We tested a help desk at our conference center

[16:51] Arwenna Stardust: that can be very frustrating to newbies

[16:51] CDB Barkley: it has a thing to click to page one of us

[16:51] CDB Barkley: Thanks Arwena

[16:51] Mari Asturias: also.. (and I hope this is ok) I took all the NMC cloting stuff and have it out on our campus so folks can mess around there

[16:51] Misha Writer: that would be great - I need to get colleagues in somewhere 'safe' like this to persuade them it's worth following up

[16:51] CDB Barkley: We have very little griefing (thumbs crossed)

[16:52] Arwenna Stardust: One thing we have found useful is to give newbies a HUD with different 'tours' on

[16:52] CDB Barkley: Keep in mind too, we are also aiming to have this not just be for newbies...

[16:52] Fleep Tuque: Heck I use all of NMC like that as long as there are no events going on. :)

[16:52] Arwenna Stardust: something they can go away and use to explore with....

[16:52] Fleep Tuque: I assume you guys don't mind.

[16:52] Ellie Brewster: And there's about 25 of us here, and not much lag

[16:52] Fleep Tuque: :)

[16:52] CDB Barkley: That's what we like to hear Fleep

[16:52] CDB Barkley: We dont mind at all

[16:52] Vardalek Paine: Good point Ellie (hi Ellie)

[16:52] Ellie Brewster: ;-)

[16:52] CDB Barkley: We have as many as 65 in for our big events

[16:52] Lively Paderborn: any lag issues with 50

[16:52] Lively Paderborn: ?

[16:52] Lively Paderborn: okay

[16:52] Fleep Tuque: Not just for newbie classes but even for more experienced groups.

[16:52] Mari Asturias: By the way.. those professional clothes.. have REALLY helped some profs/admins feel more comfortable in SL right off the bat

[16:52] CDB Barkley: Lag is also user dependent

[16:53] CDB Barkley: We will have abig announcement next week

[16:53] Stargazer Blazer: I was lagging pretty bad walking over..

[16:53] Fleep Tuque: Horizon 2008??

[16:53] CDB Barkley: We are opeining an entire new sim

[16:53] Fleep Tuque anxiously awaits the report.

[16:53] Fleep Tuque: :)

[16:53] Vardalek Paine: I think clothing will be really important for some of my colleagues (the ones who won't want ummmm cybergoth or whatev)

[16:53] Fleep Tuque: Oh!

[16:53] CDB Barkley: That is going to be free edu resources

[16:53] Fleep Tuque: Cool!

[16:53] Fleep Tuque: COOOOOL!

[16:53] Devorah Corvale: wow

[16:53] Lively Paderborn: cool

[16:53] Arwenna Stardust: cool

[16:53] Mari Asturias: very cool

[16:53] CDB Barkley: Actually we are going to provide copies of many building and props from our other jobs

[16:53] Ellie Brewster: tremendously coool

[16:53] Vardalek Paine: brilliant

[16:53] Mari Asturias: hehe....

[16:53] CDB Barkley: A free copy of the VRR (virtually reality room)

[16:54] CDB Barkley: Lots of free stuff

[16:54] Lively Paderborn: that would be great It was a pain to try to find things

[16:54] Fleep Tuque: (I have some stuff I've made that I'd love to donate if you're interested, particularly in avatar customization)

[16:54] Boris Grommet: Very nice!

[16:54] CDB Barkley: Yes, Fleep, will be intouch

[16:54] CDB Barkley: Hey Boris!

[16:54] Fleep Tuque: That will be really exciting!

[16:54] Corwin Carillon: that'd be great Fleep

[16:54] Boris Grommet: Hey CDB!

[16:54] Devorah Corvale: amazing, and I have spent the last 3 months figuring out how to do this on my own.... :o

[16:54] Fleep Tuque: I'll spam you both with transfers later. :)

[16:54] Mari Asturias: That's so great.. the time-to-find-stuff factor is a constraint for some faculty

[16:54] Corwin Carillon: Hiya Boris!

[16:54] Misha Writer: *useful* freebies - fantastic!

[16:54] Fleep Tuque nods at Mari.

[16:54] Boris Grommet: Hi Corwin!

[16:54] Stargazer Blazer smiles at Fleep

[16:55] Mari Asturias: Will some freebies be mod? It's a good way to learn

[16:55] CDB Barkley: I think we are doing a server based freebie store, so it can be made availabler in multiple locations

[16:55] CDB Barkley: I will check mari

[16:55] Fleep Tuque: Oh nice!

[16:55] Corwin Carillon: Any other comments anf suggestions from people after their wanderings?

[16:55] Mari Asturias: yay!!!

[16:55] CDB Barkley: It might vary, but I like mods

[16:55] CDB Barkley: yes, back to the topic

[16:55] RobertKlein Dogpatch: Place a donation box somewhere.

[16:55] CDB Barkley: Nahh

[16:55] CDB Barkley: Just show up!

[16:56] Alrightme Ansome: are you going to leave the whole area open for building?

[16:56] CDB Barkley: Popualte our land

[16:56] CDB Barkley: We have a sandbox sim

[16:56] CDB Barkley: NMC labs

[16:56] CDB Barkley: Its wide open

[16:56] Mari Asturias: Yea.. it was very messy here earlier today

[16:56] Alrightme Ansome: it seems open at the moment?

[16:56] CDB Barkley: Oi!

[16:56] Fleep Tuque: Have autoreturn set?

[16:56] CDB Barkley: Auto return here is short

[16:56] Corwin Carillon: we need a mentor system like you had at the conference but a larger group ... maybe something shated across SL edu spaces?

[16:56] CDB Barkley: about 20 min

[16:56] Fleep Tuque: nod that's pretty reasonable

[16:57] Fleep Tuque: Even if it looks messy briefly it's very nice for newbies to be able to pull things out of inventory.

[16:57] Fleep Tuque: We have it set that way on our campus too

[16:57] Fleep Tuque: I think the mentor program is a really really really good idea.

[16:57] CDB Barkley: Does anyone have too much time ;-)

[16:58] Fleep Tuque: Don't know what I could do to help, but I'd take an hour a week shift or something.

[16:58] Arwenna Stardust: I noticed that you use the go to web page option quite a bit - I know at times it is the best thing to do but I find it a pain on a slower computer, maybe it should be restricted to just things that can't be done any other way....

[16:58] Fleep Tuque: Dunno if I can offer more than that.

[16:58] Arwenna Stardust: Yes - I would be happy to donate some mentor time too

[16:58] CDB Barkley: Thanks.

[16:58] Vardalek Paine: if folks decide that a mentor program is good, should it be built in SL or outside first via email or wikis or something? (a question I have for my professional organization too)

[16:58] CDB Barkley: Duly noted

[16:58] Corwin Carillon: we could have a group Fleep ...

[16:58] Mari Asturias: yep... me too

[16:58] Arwenna Stardust: Being down under I could do some unsocial hours!

[16:58] Corwin Carillon: and people could post questions to the group ..

[16:58] CDB Barkley: There should be a web resource

[16:58] Corwin Carillon: whoever is on can help

[16:58] Fleep Tuque: I personally think no social or community effort works entirely in SL.

[16:58] Fleep Tuque: Web tools are absolutely essential.

[16:59] CDB Barkley agrees with fleep

[16:59] Arwenna Stardust: I agree Fleep

[16:59] Corwin Carillon: v true

[16:59] Arwenna Stardust: but we shoud only use it when it is the best or only way...

[16:59] Vardalek Paine: is it easy to interconnect? btw web tools and SL I mean (never tried building tools yet)

[16:59] Arwenna Stardust: some things can be done with a notecard which contains a web adress

[16:59] Fleep Tuque: Whether it's group blog or wiki or Ning space or Google group or whatever, having other communication tools really help people form bonds when they can't always meet synchronously.

[16:59] CDB Barkley: There are *some* things to internconnect

[16:59] CDB Barkley: And an archive

[17:00] Fleep Tuque nods.

[17:00] Vardalek Paine: thanks!

[17:00] CDB Barkley: Well, I like to respect time... this is the scheduled end, but I will hang out a bit

[17:00] Devorah Corvale: thanks for the tour

[17:00] CDB Barkley: In 2 weeks we have a Buss session on the SaLamander Project

[17:00] Fleep Tuque: Sorry I didn't get here sooner, but truly, love this sim and the service it provides.

[17:00] CDB Barkley: Buzz sesison

[17:00] Vardalek Paine: count me in for mentoring but only for navigation and stuff (can't script yet)

[17:01] Professor Gaffer: i'd be happy to mentor too

[17:01] CDB Barkley: I can only build plywood cubes

[17:01] Fleep Tuque: hehe

[17:01] Stargazer Blazer: I can mentor too

[17:01] CDB Barkley: Thanks Prof

[17:01] Mari Asturias: :-)

[17:01] CDB Barkley: Y'all are the best

[17:01] CDB Barkley: People give so much in this space

[17:01] Fleep Tuque: Excited about the SaLamander project!

[17:01] CDB Barkley: It keeps me rejuvenated

[17:01] Mari Asturias: This is a super place.... thanks so much for valuing our feedback!

[17:01] CDB Barkley: And...

[17:01] Vardalek Paine: Yeah CDB you don't look a day older than when I first saw you so long ago

[17:01] Fleep Tuque: laugh

[17:01] CDB Barkley: Tomorrow and Wednesday we have a session on NMC Conference Center

[17:02] CDB Barkley: on...

[17:02] CDB Barkley: funbling with browser

[17:02] Fleep Tuque: hehe

[17:02] Mari Asturias: huh?

[17:02] Fleep Tuque: How to fumble like a pro!

[17:02] Fleep Tuque: (Think he's looking up the topics)

[17:02] Arwenna Stardust laughs

[17:02] CDB Barkley: http://sl.nmc.org/2007/12/10/challenges-solutions/

[17:03] CDB Barkley: Challenges and Solutions for teaching in SL

[17:03] Lively Paderborn: I am excited about that

[17:03] Arwenna Stardust: sounds good

[17:03] CDB Barkley: "Join us for this 2-part session to discuss challenges and SOLUTIONS for teaching in Second Life. The panelists include faculty, K-12 teachers, and instructional designers who’ve been working on EDTECH island for the last semester to study best practice in virtual world teaching. Learn about concrete solutions and tips they’ve identified to challenges such as facilitating new users, universal access, working with voice and text modalities, and inworld assessment. Goodies provided!"

[17:03] Stargazer Blazer: I'll be back for that too

[17:03] CDB Barkley: It is 2 parts

[17:03] Vardalek Paine: thanks folks bye bye

[17:03] Mari Asturias: oh yeeeaaahhh.. that should be GREAT

[17:03] CDB Barkley: Students who are educators themselves sharing

[17:03] CDB Barkley: Thanks everyone!

[17:03] Lively Paderborn: Thank you for the tips today

[17:03] CDB Barkley: Where's my beer?

[17:04] Mari Asturias: ll

[17:04] Corwin Carillon: Thanks for all your suggestions / feedback! :)
