What is an NMC Slide Screen
- An NMC Slide Screen is a portable slide screen with scripts that allow image browsing or looping features.
How to get an NMC Slide Screen
- It's really simple to get an NMC Slide Screen
- You can get one from a friend that already has one, by having them share it to you
- You can email your avatar name to help@nmc.org and request that an NMC Slide Screen be sent to you in Second Life
- You can get a copy yourself at our largest resource center, Learning
How to place it
- NMC Slide Screen will be located in your Inventory > Objects folder
- Just drag and drop it to the area of your choice
- Once the Slide Screen is in the environment, you may need to adjust the location for better viewing capability
How to Edit Location
- To edit the location and orientation of the Slide Screen, right click it
- Select Edit
- Once the Edit menu appears, access the Object tab
- From the Object tab, you can manipulate the orientation of the screen with the
x, y, and z axis controls
- You can also use the directional arrows in the center of the screen to move it left , right, up, and down
How to load images into the Slide Screen
( Before loading images into the screen, you will have to upload the images as textures into Second Life. This can be done from the File menu )
- Right click screen, choose edit
- Access the Content tab
- Remove any not needed images/textures, ( DO NOT REMOVE THE SCRIPT )
- Open your inventory and navigate to your Textures folder, and then drag and drop the images of your choice to the Content Tab
How to Play the Slide Screen
- Once the images have been loaded into the screen, it's easy to play. Just left click.
- You will receive a blue pop up window in the upper right. Choose Pictures
- You can now choose to Browse for an image, or Loop all images
- Browse - The browse feature will allow you to manually control the images as they appear on the screen. A good use for this function would be to attempt to replicate a power point presentation. You can browse to advance to the next slide.
- Loop - The loop feature cycles through all the images loaded into the slide screen giving each image a 30 second viewing time. A good use for this function would be to set up a presentation that will be unattended. Set it and forget it.
How to share the screen to others
- The NMC Slide Screen is sharable and adjustable for everyone.
- Once you have the screen in your possession and you would like to share it to someone else, you can simply drag and drop it from your inventory onto another avatar.
- Alternatively, you can open up a profile window for another avatar and drag and drop the slide screen to the Profile window in the field for sharing your inventory.
Tips
- Once you place the slide screen on the ground, it makes a copy of the screen rather than removing it from your inventory.
- That means if you "take" the screen back up from the ground, you will end up with 2 screens in your inventory.
- This same rule applies to sharing to another avatar. If you share the screen to someone else, it will not be removed from your inventory.
- If you would like to remove the screen from your inventory, you will have to delete it.
