October 11, 2006, 5:00 PM SLT as part of the NMC Campus Impact of Digital Media Symposium
- Visitors to the NMC Library can experience sixteenth century England on Wednesday October 11 at 5 pm sl as Henry VIII takes on a second Life in Second Life to defend himself against biographers who have villified him throughout history. There is also an exhibit on the Declaration of Independence from the Library of Congress American Memory collection that has a graphic of the men who signed it, a lifesize graphic of the document, and an opportunity to listen to audio of the text. Exhibit materials were created by librarian Shadow Fugazi. Librarian Eiseldora Reisman has compiled a number of resources on the twenty-first century “Digital Media Revolution” that visitors can browse through. Through Second Life, people can experience history and current events in a variety of formats, programs, events, and materials.

[17:02] Henry Taney: pay no mind to them
[17:02] Henry Taney: How did I get here
[17:02] Henry Taney: I was lying in my tomb in England and heard about an opportunity for a Second Life
[17:02] Henry Taney: my first thought was not more wives
[17:03] CDB Barkley: Nice tombs you got
[17:03] Henry Taney: but of the opportunity to defend myself against the many biographers who have called
[17:03] Henry Taney: me countless names indeed
[17:03] Henry Taney: and I heard that wife number 2 Anne Boleyn is wandering around here too
[17:03] Henry Taney: would you enjoy llying in a cold tomb for nearly 600 years?
[17:03] Henry Taney: You may feel free to make comments and ask questions during my presentation
[17:03] Henry Taney: I want to be sur eyou understand the truth of my life
[17:04] Kisa Naumova: I have a question
[17:04] Henry Taney: and why I did the things that I did
[17:04] Henry Taney: Yes Madame
[17:04] Kisa Naumova: Shouldn't you be fatter?
[17:04] Kara Timtam: They say that "Anne of a Thousand Days" still walks the bloody tower with her head underneath her arm.
[17:04] Henry Taney: Well
[17:04] Henry Taney: in Second life one may look as one wishes
[17:04] Usu Ventura: And have a bigger crown?
[17:04] Henry Taney: this is how I wish to look
[17:04] Henry Taney: and the clothing I could find
[17:04] MLani Montgomery: Henry was quite fit in his youth
[17:04] Henry Taney: you will see my pictures do not do me justice
[17:04] Henry Taney: I was the most handosme man in England
[17:04] Henry Taney: and I was its finest monarch
[17:04] Kara Timtam: Henry was not huge and grosse all his life, see the portraits of him as a fit young man
[17:05] Henry Taney: I was born in 1491
[17:05] CDB Barkley: How do you know you were handsome?
[17:05] Kara Timtam: Very tall though, even by modern standards
[17:05] Henry Taney: My father was Henry Tudor who stole the thrown from Richard III at Bosworth Field
[17:05] MLani Montgomery: throne, not thrown
[17:05] Henry Taney: Many say I look like my grandfather Edward IV on my mother's sdie
[17:05] Henry Taney: throne
[17:05] Kara Timtam: laugh. You make it sound like a game of Hurley!
[17:05] Henry Taney: I am not an adept typist
[17:05] Henry Taney: I am sorry
[17:05] Henry Taney: I know I was handsome from the paintings I have seen
[17:05] CDB Barkley: You've had 600 years to practice
[17:05] Henry Taney: and the words of ladies from far and wide
[17:06] Henry Taney: well I have only been out of the tomb for 2 months now
[17:06] Basic Chair: Right click me and choose 'Sit Here' to sit down
[17:06] Henry Taney: I have had much catching up to do
[17:06] Henry Taney: I was the third son
[17:06] Kisa Naumova: You weren't good with a knife and fork either from what I can remember
[17:06] Henry Taney: but I was the golden boy
[17:06] MLani Montgomery: nobody was good with a knife and fork
[17:06] Henry Taney: The first born was my brother Arthur who was a weakling
[17:06] Annie Octavia: got it
[17:06] Henry Taney: he was weak from the moment he was born
[17:06] Henry Taney: my family meant for me to go into the church
[17:06] Kara Timtam: Forks were a new-made item from Italy in Henry's day
[17:06] Henry Taney: as many younger sons did
[17:06] Henry Taney: Thank you for sharing that
[17:07] Henry Taney: if others have interesting facts to share jump in
[17:07] Henry Taney: I had an older sister Margaret
[17:07] Henry Taney: we did not get a long
[17:07] Henry Taney: and a younger sister Mary
[17:07] Henry Taney: beautiful and talented like myself
[17:07] Henry Taney: as I grew older I thought I should be the first son
[17:07] Henry Taney: I was meant to be king
[17:07] Henry Taney: I learned languages
[17:07] Henry Taney: and I was talented at music and writing poetery
[17:07] Henry Taney: I was especially fine in sports and jousting
[17:07] Henry Taney: and there was Arthur the weakling
[17:08] Henry Taney: My father was a miser
[17:08] Henry Taney: and I wanted to bring glory fun and enjoyment to the court
[17:08] Henry Taney: and make it the finest court in the land
[17:08] Henry Taney: When I would talk to my parents of wanting the trhone they would always shush me
[17:08] Henry Taney: I was to go into the church
[17:08] Henry Taney: When Arthur was a young teen still sickly they brought his bride to England
[17:08] Henry Taney: Katherine of Aragon
[17:09] Henry Taney: You can see her picture here
[17:09] Henry Taney: When they were married I was only 11
[17:09] Kara Timtam: Now, why did they propose to marry you off when you were destined for the Church?
[17:09] Henry Taney: and I walked her down the aisel at their marriage
[17:09] Henry Taney: She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella
[17:09] Henry Taney: I am sure you know of them
[17:09] Kara Timtam: Oh, nevermind, he was intended for your brother.
[17:09] Henry Taney: She was their youngest daughter
[17:09] Henry Taney: and beatufiul at that time
[17:09] Henry Taney: I thought she shoudl belong to me
[17:10] Henry Taney: At the wedding I felt I outshined Arthur and I should be in his place
[17:10] Henry Taney: the envy overwhelmed me
[17:10] Henry Taney: they were married and soon he died
[17:10] Henry Taney: I knew I would be king
[17:10] Henry Taney: no church for me although I was very religious and pious
[17:10] Henry Taney: and reknowned for my scholarly works
[17:10] Henry Taney: At that time I begged my father to let me marry Katerhine
[17:10] Kara Timtam: And your songwriting, which persists to this day
[17:10] Henry Taney: It was not soon before my mother died
[17:11] Henry Taney: and it was rumored that my father would marry katherine
[17:11] Henry Taney: He did not want her dowry to go back to Spain
[17:11] Henry Taney: She longed for home
[17:11] Henry Taney: or to marry me
[17:11] Henry Taney: I know she fancied me
[17:11] Henry Taney: as most women did
[17:11] Henry Taney: but he would not let her return
[17:11] Henry Taney: finally he died
[17:11] Henry Taney: very soon after I married her
[17:11] Henry Taney: she was 6 years older than me
[17:11] Henry Taney: but I was 18
[17:11] Henry Taney: and at that time that was of no consequence
[17:12] Henry Taney: I knew we would have plenty of children
[17:12] Henry Taney: and have a golden court
[17:12] Henry Taney: She was very religious
[17:12] Henry Taney: very Catholic
[17:12] Henry Taney: and so was I
[17:12] Henry Taney: although Catholicism was under the Pope
[17:12] Henry Taney: As you know the main duty of a monarch is to have heirs
[17:12] Henry Taney: Our first child was born but did not live long
[17:12] Henry Taney: Another woman caught my eye
[17:13] Henry Taney: Elizabeth Bessie Blount
[17:13] Henry Taney: I koew this bothered Katherine
[17:13] MLani Montgomery: Caught your eye?
[17:13] Henry Taney: I had been faithful to tha tpoint
[17:13] Henry Taney: and no king was faithful at that time
[17:13] Kisa Naumova: Was this before or after you chopped her head off?
[17:13] Larry Pixel: hehe
[17:13] Henry Taney: inf act their virility was quesioned if they did not have a mistress
[17:13] Kara Timtam: So many women caught his eye, you would think he was playing Pass The Shoe with his eyeballs
[17:13] Henry Taney: I did not cut Catherine's head off
[17:13] Henry Taney: she was divorced
[17:13] Henry Taney: well Bessie Blount bore me a fine son we named Henry Fitzroy
[17:14] Henry Taney: Catherine went through a series of miscarriages
[17:14] Henry Taney: and I knew the problem was not mind
[17:14] Henry Taney: mine
[17:14] Henry Taney: itwas hers
[17:14] MLani Montgomery: You knew this because....?
[17:14] Scarlett Qi: It's always her...
[17:14] Henry Taney: as she had more and more finally she bore me a daughter Mary in 1516
[17:14] JJ Drinkwater: (So thou sayest, King henry!)
[17:14] Henry Taney: because I had successfully had a son with Bessie Blount
[17:14] Kara Timtam: He had a live son by another woman
[17:14] Henry Taney: I began to think my marriage was cursed
[17:14] Henry Taney: there were many problems
[17:14] Henry Taney: Catherine was the aunt of Charles, an emperior
[17:15] Henry Taney: it would not do to anger him
[17:15] Henry Taney: I started working with Cardinal Wolsey
[17:15] Kara Timtam: Perhaps you should have courted a hale young widow instead!
[17:15] Henry Taney: a butcher's son whom I raised to be a cardinal
[17:15] Henry Taney: to beg the pope for a dispensation
[17:15] Henry Taney: The Bible clearly stated that a man should not marry his brother's sister
[17:15] Henry Taney: and God had clearly shown me his disapproval when we had no son
[17:15] Kisa Naumova: Except if you've chopped her head off
[17:15] Henry Taney: just a sickly daughter Mary
[17:16] Henry Taney: I did not chop her head off but I tired of her
[17:16] Henry Taney: the pregnancies wore n her
[17:16] Henry Taney: she grew old quickly
[17:16] CDB Barkley: Spent much time in therapy, hank?
[17:16] Henry Taney: she was no longer fun and merry
[17:16] Kara Timtam: He did not chop Catherine's head off, that was another quene
[17:16] Henry Taney: she spent most of her days and nights in prayer
[17:16] Henry Taney: she was no longer the merry companion
[17:16] Henry Taney: and I was no longer in love with her
[17:16] Henry Taney: The pope would not listen to me
[17:16] Scarlett Qi: tsk tsk
[17:16] Henry Taney: so I took other mistresses
[17:16] Larry Pixel gave you Snapshot.
[17:17] Henry Taney: and tried to think of many ways out of the situation
[17:17] Alexandria Knight: How many?
[17:17] JJ Drinkwater: (Wherefore should he listen to thee, Philander?)
[17:17] Henry Taney: You should thank me
[17:17] Kisa Naumova: "Chopped her head off", "divorced", "invaded Irealdn" - it's all the same thing really
[17:17] Henry Taney: I was called Defender of the Faith for awhile
[17:17] Henry Taney: after the wonderful religious writings I did
[17:17] Henry Taney: then I met Mary Boleyn
[17:17] JJ Drinkwater: (Oh, aye, thou spokest fair)
[17:17] Henry Taney: a fine beautiful plump and easy woman with an ambitious family
[17:17] Alexandria Knight: I thought t was Anne...
[17:17] Kara Timtam: Divorce is a survivable experience, I assure you, as could Anne of Cleavage, er Cleaves
[17:17] Henry Taney: Her sister Mary was my mistresss first
[17:17] Henry Taney: she was a maid to Catherine
[17:18] Henry Taney: she did not ask for land, money or gifts of any kind
[17:18] JJ Drinkwater: (Thou spokest as fair as thu didst Ill)
[17:18] Henry Taney: I tired of her quickly
[17:18] Henry Taney: especially when I saw her sister Anne
[17:18] CDB Barkley: I'm surprised fathers were not locking up their daughters
[17:18] Larry Pixel: such a hulk...er hunk yo uare
[17:18] Henry Taney: Anne came from the court of France
[17:18] Henry Taney: she was like a witch
[17:18] Kara Timtam: FAthers were hungry for a crown!
[17:18] Henry Taney: she bewitched me and many other men at court
[17:18] Scarlett Qi: laughs
[17:18] Henry Taney: I think she was a witch
[17:18] JJ Drinkwater: (Aye, i'faith, is that thy excuse?)
[17:18] CDB Barkley: A crown is not much good w/o a head to hang it on....
[17:18] Henry Taney: she begged more and more of me but she would not give into me
[17:18] Henry Taney: she would only go so far
[17:18] Henry Taney: and then hold me off
[17:19] Kisa Naumova: Second base huh?
[17:19] Henry Taney: I was wild with desire for her
[17:19] Henry Taney: and she always had a group of merry young people around
[17:19] JJ Drinkwater: (thou wast led by thy sceptre, o king)
[17:19] Henry Taney: her with music, poetry, and we had a merry court again
[17:19] Henry Taney: I was now even more motivated to rid myself of Catherine
[17:19] Henry Taney: Catherine only did the formal things at court
[17:19] Henry Taney: Anne was truly the queen
[17:19] Henry Taney: I even made her a Marchioness
[17:19] Henry Taney: she was the first commoner to be given a royal title
[17:19] Kara Timtam: We know how Greensleeves' sleeves got green... rolling in the grass!
[17:20] Henry Taney: still that was not enough as we waited to hear from the Pope
[17:20] JJ Drinkwater: (Faugh -- bribery added to philandering)
[17:20] Henry Taney: Anne was angry with Wolsey
[17:20] Henry Taney: for a few years before she thought herself in love with Henry Percy
[17:20] Henry Taney: wh o was heir to that duchy
[17:20] Henry Taney: Henry Percy thought he was in love with her
[17:20] Henry Taney: until Wolsey told him he would lose his inheritance if he did not marry elsewhere
[17:20] Henry Taney: what a whimp
[17:20] Henry Taney: as you would say
[17:21] Henry Taney: he dropped Anne
[17:21] Henry Taney: and she never forgave him
[17:21] Kisa Naumova: "Iheritance", "head" it's all the same thing
[17:21] Henry Taney: She hounded me until I got rid of him
[17:21] dusty Desoto: ++
[17:21] Kara Timtam: Verily you have grasped modern parlance!
[17:21] Henry Taney: so I sent Catherine to the country
[17:21] Henry Taney: and I met Thomas Cromwell
[17:21] Henry Taney: he suggested
[17:21] Henry Taney: of course it was not my idea
[17:21] Henry Taney: that I make myself head of the church of England
[17:21] Henry Taney: and that if we did that we could take money from the moasteries of the Catholic church to fill our coffers
[17:21] Kara Timtam: Cromwell. That was never a Name dear to England.
[17:22] Henry Taney: I thought it was a brilliant idea
[17:22] Larry Pixel gave you Snapshot.
[17:22] Henry Taney: so I made myself hed of the church of England
[17:22] Henry Taney: and thumbed my nose at that old Pope
[17:22] Henry Taney: and at Charles, Catherine's nephew
[17:22] Henry Taney: at that time I had made an alliance with Francis I of France
[17:22] Henry Taney: so I did not need Charles
[17:22] Henry Taney: Anne gave into me
[17:22] JJ Drinkwater: (Wast thy nose, sir, or another apendage?)
[17:22] Henry Taney: a few months before we married in January 1533
[17:23] Henry Taney: Very quickly to our joy we learned she was pregnant
[17:23] Henry Taney: I was very happy
[17:23] Henry Taney: I knew I would have a son
[17:23] Henry Taney: I finally had Anne
[17:23] Kara Timtam: He had Anne to attend his royal sceptre
[17:23] Henry Taney: and I thought she would quit harping at me
[17:23] Henry Taney: Cartherine went to the country where she died in1536
[17:23] Henry Taney: to the day she died she thought she was my wife in truth
[17:23] Henry Taney: but she was not
[17:23] Henry Taney: she could not bear me a son
[17:23] Henry Taney: so what say we get rid of her picture now
[17:23] Kisa Naumova: Sorry - is this before or after you chopped Anne Bolyne's head off?
[17:24] Henry Taney: Anne still had her head
[17:24] Kara Timtam: Anne was queen for 1,000 days all told. Let him reach that point in his life story.
[17:24] Henry Taney: in September she bore me a daughter Elizabeth
[17:24] Henry Taney: a happy healthy child who followed my ways I believe
[17:25] Henry Taney: I was so disappointed
[17:25] Henry Taney: you can understand can't you
[17:25] Henry Taney: all I had given up
[17:25] Kara Timtam: Yes in some ways, no in others
[17:25] Henry Taney: to marry Anne
[17:25] Henry Taney: and she gives me a daughter
[17:25] Henry Taney: I again began to think my marriage was cursed
[17:25] Henry Taney: all seh did was harp at me
[17:25] Henry Taney: and flirt with her followers
[17:25] Henry Taney: I began to think she was being unfaithful to me
[17:25] Henry Taney: and even if she gave me a son would it be mine?
[17:25] Alexandria Knight: Was she?
[17:25] Henry Taney: She became pregnant again and miscarried
[17:25] JJ Drinkwater: What dids't thou expect, king Henry?)
[17:26] Henry Taney: I expected a son
[17:26] Henry Taney: A son is not too much to ask for when one is a king
[17:26] Henry Taney: Any questions so far?
[17:26] Henry Taney: well we shall procceed then
[17:26] Alexandria Knight: Was Anne unfaithful?
[17:26] Henry Taney: Catherine died in January 1536
[17:26] Henry Taney: and Anne and I danced in yellow that night
[17:26] Henry Taney: that relieved Anne
[17:26] Henry Taney: She thought she was safe now that Catherine had died
[17:27] Henry Taney: we found she was pregnant yet again
[17:27] Kara Timtam: She would have been a fool to conceive by any other man
[17:27] Henry Taney: One day I went out hunting
[17:27] Henry Taney: I was badly injured and unconcsioucs for a time
[17:27] Henry Taney: someone went and told Anne
[17:27] Alexandria Knight: How were you injured?
[17:27] Henry Taney: I am told she was crazy with grief and again she miscarried
[17:27] Henry Taney: there are rumors the baby was deformed a child of the devil
[17:27] Henry Taney: some say she was a witch
[17:27] Henry Taney: she had a sixth finger and a large mole on her neck
[17:28] Henry Taney: she wore that necklace to hide it
[17:28] Henry Taney: before she had her miscarriage another young woman at court with an ambitious family had caught my eye
[17:28] Henry Taney: Jane Seymour
[17:28] Henry Taney: I knoew with the last miscarraiage
[17:28] Henry Taney: and Thomas Cromwell found that she had committed treason
[17:28] Henry Taney: been unfaithful to me with a number of men
[17:28] Henry Taney: Mark Smeaton the musician
[17:29] Henry Taney: Francis Brereton
[17:29] Henry Taney: the poet Thomas Wyatt
[17:29] Henry Taney: and others
[17:29] Henry Taney: what could I do but believe him
[17:29] Henry Taney: she was given a trial and found guilty
[17:29] Henry Taney: Mark Smeaton admitted to it under torture
[17:29] Henry Taney: so she went to the tower
[17:29] Henry Taney: and I carrie don with Jane Seymour who would not give into me either
[17:29] Alexandria Knight: Tortured people lie...
[17:29] Henry Taney: She said she was a pious woman who could not be my mistress but would be my wife
[17:29] Henry Taney: Annne was sentenced to be beheaded
[17:29] Kara Timtam: What is it with you and the women you cannot have!
[17:30] Henry Taney: i had to be rid of her the harpie
[17:30] Kara Timtam: When so many were eager
[17:30] Henry Taney: so we did the right thing
[17:30] CDB Barkley: So who have you really loved? and who has really returned it?
[17:30] Henry Taney: this marriage was cursed
[17:30] Henry Taney: I thought I was truly in love with Anne
[17:30] Henry Taney: but she bewitched me
[17:30] Henry Taney: yes that was it
[17:30] Henry Taney: we brought in a swordsman from France
[17:30] Henry Taney: she was beheaed in May 1536
[17:30] Henry Taney: shall we rid herselves of her picture
[17:31] Henry Taney: what a great disapointment
[17:31] Henry Taney: but I was in love
[17:31] JJ Drinkwater: (thy story repeateth, o King)
[17:31] JJ Drinkwater: ("Tis link a song with a refrain)
[17:31] Kisa Naumova: SO really, what you're saying here, is that you're a griefer
[17:31] JJ Drinkwater: (Knows't thou no other melody?)
[17:31] CDB Barkley: Griefer madness
[17:31] JJ Drinkwater: (Dancest thou to no other tune?)
[17:31] Henry Taney: this ladies and gentleman
[17:31] Kisa Naumova: I've seen that film...
[17:32] Henry Taney: was the one true love of my life
[17:32] Henry Taney: Jane Seyour
[17:32] Henry Taney: WE married not long after Anne was beheaded
[17:32] Alexandria Knight: They seem to look a lot alike...
[17:32] Henry Taney: we were very happy
[17:32] Kisa Naumova: I was expecting a picture of you
[17:32] Henry Taney: she was sweet and gentle
[17:32] Henry Taney: not a harpie as Anne was
[17:32] Henry Taney: She too was from an ambitious family who all wanted positions
[17:32] Henry Taney: she became pregnant very quickly and bore me a son in 1537, Edward
[17:32] JJ Drinkwater: (aye, a very mat for thy royal...dorr)
[17:32] Henry Taney: I was ecstatic
[17:32] Henry Taney: my son at last
[17:33] Henry Taney: but alas she died in childbirth
[17:33] Kara Timtam: That name as been bourne by alovely lady in more recent times... an actress, if you will not hold that against her
[17:33] Henry Taney: my heart was broekn as I thought I had found the ideal woman
[17:33] Henry Taney: in some of the paintings you will see of me and my family
[17:33] JJ Drinkwater: (And so wast thou paid for thy sins, King Henry)
[17:33] Henry Taney: you will see my three children with me and Jane
[17:33] Henry Taney: no don't say that
[17:33] Henry Taney: we were blessed with a son
[17:33] Henry Taney: so do you have any questions?
[17:33] JJ Drinkwater: (Aye, and what did he turn out to be?)
[17:33] Henry Taney: As my heart was broken
[17:34] JJ Drinkwater: (A weakling, like thy brother)
[17:34] Henry Taney: my court was solemn and quiet for a few years
[17:34] Henry Taney: and then my ministers started haggling at me to get married again
[17:34] Henry Taney: to have more sons
[17:34] Henry Taney: and this time to make a strategic alliance
[17:34] Kara Timtam: An Heir and a Spare
[17:34] Henry Taney: so against my will they sent Hans Holbein to many courts across Europe to pain
[17:34] Henry Taney: paint eligible princesses
[17:34] Henry Taney: for me to view
[17:35] Kara Timtam: His artistry exceeded his realism, not so?
[17:35] Kara Timtam: Even the ugly princesses made beautiful in his paintings
[17:35] Alexandria Knight: Hadn't you gained a bit of weight by now?
[17:35] Henry Taney: this is large
[17:35] Henry Taney: yes
[17:35] Henry Taney: I had gout
[17:35] Henry Taney: I had grown into middle age
[17:36] Henry Taney: but still a wonder of a man
[17:36] JJ Drinkwater: (Aye, and thou art heavy-boned, glutton?)
[17:36] Kara Timtam: I do fancy that dress
[17:36] Henry Taney: they brought this portrait to me
[17:36] Kisa Naumova: A womnder of three men, by all acounts
[17:36] Henry Taney: Anne of Cleves
[17:36] Henry Taney: I thought her quite attractive until she came to England
[17:36] Henry Taney: what do you think of her
[17:36] Larry Pixel: she's hot, no doubt
[17:36] Kara Timtam: Dear Lord, a Bavarian Pastry
[17:36] Henry Taney: some say Hans Holbein was in love with her
[17:36] JJ Drinkwater: (She was what thou dids't deserve, King Henry)
[17:36] Bill Friis: Can not judge by images.
[17:36] Henry Taney: and made her more beautiful than she truly was
[17:36] Alexandria Knight: It's a beautiful painting.
[17:36] Henry Taney: when she arrived
[17:37] Henry Taney: my first thought was she is a mare
[17:37] Henry Taney: her clothiing - horrible
[17:37] Henry Taney: her manners - horrible
[17:37] Henry Taney: her mannerisms
[17:37] Henry Taney: and she could not speak English
[17:37] Henry Taney: I could not speak German
[17:37] Henry Taney: I wanted to return her home
[17:37] Kisa Naumova: Was she a bit of a minger?
[17:37] Henry Taney: Alas my ministers would not allow me to
[17:37] Henry Taney: what is a minger
[17:37] Kara Timtam: Who could tell if she complained or not?
[17:37] Kisa Naumova: Was she ugly?
[17:38] Henry Taney: yes she was ugly and replusive in every way to me
[17:38] Henry Taney: I di dmarry her
[17:38] Henry Taney: but we did not get along
[17:38] Henry Taney: I know she feared for her head
[17:38] Henry Taney: however, i was very kindi to her
[17:38] Kisa Naumova: Thy standards had slipped
[17:38] Henry Taney: we divorced amicably
[17:38] Henry Taney: and I made a wonderful home for her in England
[17:38] Henry Taney: She was scholarly and kind to my children
[17:38] Alexandria Knight: How kind of you not to chop off her head too...
[17:38] Henry Taney: I was concerned about my children especially my younger ones
[17:38] Henry Taney: they lost their mothers so young
[17:38] Alexandria Knight: You must have mellowed in your old age
[17:39] Kisa Naumova: How many prims was the house?
[17:39] Henry Taney: I never did chop off her head
[17:39] Henry Taney: she was worried that I would
[17:39] Henry Taney: but I did not
[17:39] Kara Timtam: Anne of a Tousand Prims!
[17:39] Henry Taney: she did not cause me any trouble
[17:39] Henry Taney: That was Anne of 180 days
[17:39] Henry Taney: now we move to Catherine Howard
[17:39] Kara Timtam: another deader
[17:39] Kisa Naumova: Catherine of No Payment Info on File
[17:40] Yuv Levertov: is this place free?
[17:41] Henry Taney: Catherine Howard was a first cousin to Anne Boleyn
[17:41] Henry Taney: did you know that
[17:41] Kara Timtam: I did
[17:41] Alexandria Knight: No
[17:41] Henry Taney: I called her my rose without a thorn
[17:41] Henry Taney: She was not even 20 years old yet
[17:41] Henry Taney: but I felt like a teenager
[17:41] Kara Timtam: that was a bold risk
[17:41] Henry Taney: I was in love again
[17:41] Henry Taney: I thought her too young to have experienced life
[17:41] Henry Taney: She was fresh
[17:41] Henry Taney: and I had to say she reminded me of Anne
[17:42] Usu Ventura: not like you
[17:42] Henry Taney: At the time I must say I was mjiddle aged
[17:42] Henry Taney: heavy and I had the gout
[17:42] Henry Taney: I could sometimes tell I may have repulsed her
[17:42] Henry Taney: but I was a king
[17:42] Henry Taney: and how could she thwart me?
[17:42] Henry Taney: So indeed we married
[17:42] Henry Taney: and for a time
[17:42] Henry Taney: I thought we would be so very happy
[17:42] Henry Taney: then I began to hear rumors that she was unfaithful
[17:42] Henry Taney: and had been contracted to another man before marrying me
[17:43] CDB Barkley: Your royal theme song has been located (music channel ;-)
[17:43] Henry Taney: She was brought up in her
[17:43] Henry Taney: grandmother's lax and loose household
[17:43] Larry Pixel: hehhhehheh
[17:43] Henry Taney: and had become involved with her musician of all people
[17:43] JJ Drinkwater: (as bad as thy court?)
[17:43] Usu Ventura: Brilliant CDB
[17:43] Henry Taney: he began blackmailing her
[17:43] Usu Ventura: !
[17:43] Larry Pixel: do listen tto the music channel
[17:43] Kara Timtam: Past times with good company?
[17:43] Usu Ventura: Just what I wanted CDB
[17:43] Henry Taney: and then I heard she was having an affair with her cousin Thomas Culpepper
[17:43] Henry Taney: I set my minsters to work
[17:43] Kara Timtam: lololol music!
[17:44] Henry Taney: and yes they did discover that she was being unfaithful
[17:44] Henry Taney: the ungrateful wretch
[17:44] Henry Taney: my heart was broken
[17:44] Bill Friis: Of course
[17:44] Henry Taney: we were very quiet about it
[17:44] Henry Taney: but one day in Hampton Court she was arrested
[17:44] Henry Taney: and she screamed all the way to the tower I was told
[17:44] Henry Taney: I never saw her again
[17:44] Henry Taney: My h eart was broken
[17:44] Henry Taney: I had raised her
[17:45] Henry Taney: from an unhappy childhood
[17:45] Henry Taney: to a Queenship and how did she repay me
[17:45] Henry Taney: the least she could have done was to be faithful
[17:45] Henry Taney: but she was not
[17:45] Usu Ventura: how sad for you
[17:45] Henry Taney: she well deserved her fate
[17:45] Larry Pixel: poor Henry
[17:45] Bill Friis: Were you faithful?
[17:46] Usu Ventura: Where'd he go?
[17:46] Bill Friis: to get a picture.
[17:46] Larry Pixel: he is off beheading another
[17:46] Kisa Naumova: Off to be unfaithful
[17:46] Alexandria Knight: I think he's getting us another picutre
[17:46] Alexandria Knight: picture
[17:46] Usu Ventura: OK
[17:46] Larry Pixel: i hear axe's grinding
[17:46] CDB Barkley: Wanted: SWF for 600 year old dead king.
[17:46] Henry Taney: yes I was faithful
[17:46] Henry Taney: the gout in my leg made that kind of thing difficult
[17:46] Henry Taney: although i had not lost my virility of course
[17:47] Usu Ventura: I bet
[17:47] Henry Taney: now what is a man to do without female companionship
[17:47] Henry Taney: how many men in this room would wish to go without that
[17:47] Kara Timtam: No, he had a different dis-ease in his Third Leg
[17:47] Henry Taney: I had children to think about
[17:47] Larry Pixel: of course....and igf you had, you'd not admit here after all these years!
[17:47] Kisa Naumova: U hear there are stories from the shower rooms
[17:47] Henry Taney: and so
[17:47] Kara Timtam: Syphilis, it is said
[17:47] Henry Taney: I began to look again
[17:47] Henry Taney: I needed a mother for my children
[17:47] Henry Taney: madame Meadowbrook you are a cruel one
[17:47] Henry Taney: however you may heckle me
[17:47] Larry Pixel: hehhe
[17:47] Henry Taney: I am here to tell my story
[17:47] Henry Taney: and it is the truth
[17:48] Usu Ventura: hilarious
[17:48] Henry Taney: I met Catherine parr
[17:48] Henry Taney: She was different than all the others
[17:48] Henry Taney: or so I thought
[17:48] Henry Taney: She was in her early 30s
[17:48] Henry Taney: she had been marreid and widowed twice before
[17:48] Henry Taney: she had married older men twice
[17:48] Henry Taney: and nrused them
[17:48] Henry Taney: I needed a nurse and a mother for my children
[17:48] Henry Taney: She was a scholar
[17:48] Henry Taney: and we had many fascinating discussions
[17:48] Henry Taney: Catherine Howard was beuatiful but not intelligent
[17:49] Henry Taney: and anne of cleves could not even speak English
[17:49] Henry Taney: so I was hungry for intellectual companionship
[17:49] Henry Taney: Catherine was kind to my children
[17:49] Lludmila Mirrikh: And a babe
[17:49] Usu Ventura: sure
[17:49] Henry Taney: She brought Mary back to the court
[17:49] Henry Taney: She was close to Elizabeth
[17:49] Henry Taney: and a good mother to Edward
[17:49] Henry Taney: and a good wife to me or so I thought
[17:49] Henry Taney: Jane Seymour had two brothers Edward and Thomas,
[17:50] Henry Taney: both whom I had given good positions at court
[17:50] Henry Taney: I did not know until later than Catherine had fallen in love with Thomas Seymour
[17:50] Kara Timtam: probably supine.
[17:50] Henry Taney: Thomas Seymour was a womanizer
[17:50] Henry Taney: and ambitious
[17:50] Henry Taney: I heard that after my death he had the nerve to even propose to Elizabeth
[17:50] Henry Taney: but that is another story
[17:50] Bill Friis: Oh, how I hate a womanizer.
[17:50] Henry Taney: I don't think she was unfaiituful
[17:50] Henry Taney: although I did threaten that was unacceptable
[17:51] Henry Taney: after all I had been through
[17:51] Henry Taney: so I had elevated her to queen and she should appreciate that
[17:51] Henry Taney: she should always be grateful and thank ful
[17:51] Henry Taney: then unfortunately I did die in 1547 leaving her a widow
[17:51] Henry Taney: soon after I died she did marry Thomas Seymour
[17:51] Henry Taney: Ihave to say she was a good wife while we were together
[17:51] Henry Taney: but I was not parrtcularly in love with her
[17:52] Henry Taney: Edward wsas only 10 when I died and became king
[17:52] Henry Taney: none of my childrne had children
[17:52] Henry Taney: so the Tudor line died in i1607 when Elizbeth died and Mary Queen of Scots son James took the thrones of England and Scotland
[17:52] Ana Herzog: Bad genes
[17:52] Henry Taney: however I find that I was one of the most celebrated monarchs in iEurope
[17:52] Henry Taney: at a very fascinating time
[17:52] Kara Timtam: The curse of Anne Bolyn, they say
[17:52] Henry Taney: one of the most exciting times to live
[17:52] Henry Taney: besides Second Life of vourse
[17:53] Henry Taney: Now I wish to build a court here
[17:53] Ana Herzog: infamous not celebrated
[17:53] Usu Ventura: For you maybe
[17:53] Henry Taney: and have Mr. Drinkwater be my court librarian
[17:53] Henry Taney: I promise not to behead you
[17:53] Henry Taney: I see that Mr. Pixel's campus has gorwn by several islands
[17:53] Ana Herzog: don't believe him
[17:53] Henry Taney: and that he would like me to have one
[17:53] Henry Taney: so that you may all experience my wonderful court
[17:53] CDB Barkley: So are you cruising SL for women?
[17:53] Henry Taney: it could be that one of you in this room
[17:53] Kara Timtam: Surely you promised to Anne that he would love her in sickness and in health, but not not to behead her
[17:53] Henry Taney: could be my next wife
[17:53] Henry Taney: and in SEcond life you are never dead
[17:54] Ana Herzog: pffft!
[17:54] Henry Taney: so even if I ordered you beheaded you would return within a minute
[17:54] CDB Barkley: How will you dispose of them?
[17:54] Henry Taney: What say you
[17:54] Speeder Vavoom: if you come after me I'll orbit you
[17:54] Henry Taney: I am an atrractive chap wouldn't you say?
[17:54] Kara Timtam: Aye, is that not a laught? Queen JJ. Queen Alexandria. Queen Shawna or Ludmila
[17:54] Henry Taney: yes
[17:54] Speeder Vavoom: i'm already a queen as you can see
[17:54] CDB Barkley: Could use some grey goo
[17:54] Kisa Naumova: You're not fat enough
[17:54] Henry Taney: or Queen Kari Meadowbrook
[17:54] Henry Taney: madame I would spend my life
[17:54] Henry Taney: defending myself
[17:54] Lludmila Mirrikh: I'm fat enough.
[17:54] Henry Taney: my second life that is
[17:54] Bill Friis: Wait. Maybe castle will be worth it.
[17:54] Henry Taney: and I could not give you the disease here
[17:54] Usu Ventura: Nice try Homer, er Henry
[17:54] Henry Taney: even if I did have it
[17:55] Henry Taney: whcih I did not
[17:55] Henry Taney: so any questions
[17:55] Henry Taney: we are almost at the hour mark
[17:55] Larry Pixel: Homer VIII
[17:55] Henry Taney: I must say you have not heckled me as much as my first audience did
[17:55] Kara Timtam: Aye, electronica is a better prophylactic than a French Letter!
[17:55] Usu Ventura: exactly
[17:55] Henry Taney: I believe that you blieve me
[17:55] Larry Pixel: Kara!!
[17:55] Henry Taney: Larry Pixel you shall be my chief advisor
[17:55] Kara Timtam: We believe... that you believe every word you have spoken.
[17:55] Henry Taney: Usu you shall be builder of my casltes
[17:55] Kisa Naumova: Yes, I have a question. I could never quite figure out how the Tudors fitted in with the PLantagenates and the War of the Roses - you were after that, right?
[17:55] Alexandria Knight: Pretty much... we're all self-delusional in some respects, aren't we?
[17:55] Kara Timtam: Larry!
[17:56] Usu Ventura: You wish
[17:56] Larry Pixel: hehhe'
[17:56] Henry Taney: Mr. Mandelbrot you shall be head of my treasury
[17:56] Larry Pixel: I accept the calling o King
[17:56] Henry Taney: since you came to hear me talk
[17:56] Larry Pixel: my advice is this....
[17:56] Henry Taney: you shall all have fine positions in my court at NMC
[17:56] Larry Pixel: stop lilling all the good lookign women
[17:56] Doug Mandelbrot: Exchequer
[17:56] Kara Timtam: If I make crude comment, at least I will do so in the terminology of the Tudor era.
[17:56] Henry Taney: I will never stop lusting after women
[17:56] Henry Taney: it is a part of me
[17:56] Henry Taney: one last thought
[17:56] Henry Taney: at my last talk
[17:56] Lludmila Mirrikh: A very small part?
[17:56] Bill Friis: and the women here are so worthy of it.
[17:56] Henry Taney: they asked I talk more of my political accompolishments
[17:56] Henry Taney: as there were many
[17:57] Henry Taney: but most of the attention on me is my wives
[17:57] Henry Taney: because I am Henry the VIII, I am I am
[17:57] Henry Taney: I never fell in love with the widow next door
[17:57] Henry Taney: what is it with musical groups with the names of animals
[17:57] Larry Pixel: hahhhahhha
[17:57] Kara Timtam: Truly there has never been a King Henry since then
[17:57] Henry Taney: I could use many advisors on the world today
[17:57] Henry Taney: there will never be another me
[17:57] Kisa Naumova: Well, actually, I;d rather find out why you invaded Ireland, but wives is good
[17:57] Henry Taney: Questions?
[17:57] Henry Taney: Corrections?
[17:57] Kara Timtam: And there will not be in the foressable future barring great tragedy
[17:57] Henry Taney: Would you like to know
[17:57] Henry Taney: My great ancestors the Plantagenets
[17:58] Henry Taney: gained much land in Europe when they ruled
[17:58] Henry Taney: my dream was to gain all of it back
[17:58] Henry Taney: and to rule England, France, Scotland, and ireland
[17:58] Larry Pixel: one little sim at a time
[17:58] Henry Taney: i was never able to achieve that
[17:58] Ana Herzog: And did you have other private views of Catholicism.....
[17:58] Henry Taney: well larry how about one
[17:58] Kara Timtam: Larry, you are not so far wrong
[17:58] Henry Taney: that we should call England
[17:58] Henry Taney: yes
[17:58] Henry Taney: when the pope would not give me my way
[17:58] Henry Taney: and the monks had all those treausres in their coffers
[17:58] Henry Taney: I thought that money should go to England
[17:59] Henry Taney: my church was much like the Catholic Church
[17:59] Henry Taney: only I was the head
[17:59] Kisa Naumova: England == your wallet yes?
[17:59] Kara Timtam: Why not, God wasn't spending it. :-/
[17:59] Larry Pixel: yes do tell us of the pope
[17:59] Ana Herzog: but what about your real views on religion?
[17:59] Henry Taney: not some ninny in Italy who did not know our people
[17:59] Henry Taney: I thought I was anointed by God to rule
[17:59] Usu Ventura: And to think I forgot you after High school
[17:59] Henry Taney: and that he had cursed me in my choice of marriage and wives
[17:59] Henry Taney: Finallyh with Jane Seymour
[17:59] Henry Taney: and hwen I beceame head of the church he blessed me with a son
[18:00] Henry Taney: that showed me that I was righteous
[18:00] Ana Herzog: So why was God so ticked at you?
[18:00] Henry Taney: and true defender of the faith
[18:00] Henry Taney: because I ha dmarried my brother's widow
[18:00] Kara Timtam: A son who scarcely survived your reign
[18:00] Larry Pixel: could be the trail of headless women perhaps?
[18:00] Kisa Naumova: And what would you have made of the current Royals?
[18:00] Henry Taney: right but then I lived on through Elizabeth
[18:00] Henry Taney: they are content to spend their money
[18:00] Henry Taney: and act as fools
[18:00] Ana Herzog: the leverite is fine
[18:00] Henry Taney: they have given all their power to parliament
[18:00] Henry Taney: and are only figureheads now
[18:00] Henry Taney: they should be beheaded
[18:01] CDB Barkley: Tough job
[18:01] Kara Timtam: I think Henry would have admired Edward VII for marrying the woman he loved, but reviled Charles as a feckelss fool
[18:01] Henry Taney: well it is almost time for me to return to renfest village
[18:01] Henry Taney: and find a seventh wife
[18:01] Henry Taney: Mr Pixel
[18:01] Henry Taney: how soon can you have Hampton Court ready for me
[18:01] Larry Pixel: In oment my Lord
[18:01] Kara Timtam: I am very nearly minded to apply for the job
[18:01] Ana Herzog: So --- did you have a ministry of silly walks?
[18:01] Henry Taney: WE will have a merry wnoderful court
[18:01] Larry Pixel: thank you for your leave
[18:01] Henry Taney: not that Iknow of
[18:01] Henry Taney: yes Mr. Pixel
[18:01] Kara Timtam: lol ana
[18:02] Henry Taney: you should be honored that you should be my chief advisor
[18:02] Larry Pixel: Indded
[18:02] Henry Taney: none of you really have the oportunity to turn me down once you are appointed
[18:02] Henry Taney: I still know swordsman in France
[18:02] Kara Timtam: Royal. To the last.
[18:02] Larry Pixel: my advice is that you return soon, as this has been WONDERFUL!!
