Welcome to a new adventure with, what we believe will become, the 3D web! We will be using a 3D environment or platform called Second Life.

This course will run for (#) sessions. The session can be run as a mix of real time with a facilitator, self-paced group, and self-paced individual.

In preparation for this we need you to do some pre-session activity.

1. Watch the short online video podcast, Secrets of Second Life Episode 1 at http://www.fmstudio.com/secrets/?p=1 (please note particularly, how to Force Sun to Noon as you might need to do this as soon as you 'land' in Second Life)

2. Then go to http://secondlife.com and create your account.

3. Email (names of facilitators) your Second Life name.

4. Read the pdf attached which shows where you will arrive when you first login to Second Life. http://jokay.wikispaces.com/orientation_Sl

5. Download and install the Second Life Client on your PC(s) you will be using for the duration of the course.

6. Login to Second Life on [date] at [time], go through the Second Life basic orientation (pay particular attention to the difference between chat and IM in Second Life in the orientation) and look out for the black and orange NMC flag when you reach the exit. One of the facilitators will be there with the next set of instructions for your journey.
