We had some challenges live streaming Lyr Lobo (aka Cynthia Calongne) for her presentation from the 2007 NMC Summer Conference, but we did get an audio recording (see below) of here fantastic session. As usual, she infected the room with energy, and she wandered all over the space as she explained with infinite enthusiasm her way of "being" in Second Life.

Today at the 2007 NMC Summer Conference, live from Indianapolis, Angela Thomas, the RL avatar of Anya Ixchel, wowed an audience with her presentation that painted a vivid picture of the notions of "play" and identity in digital spaces. We did what we could to bring the experience into Second Life, with a live audio stream.... mostly live- due to some technical challenges, the stream kept cutting out.

The Second Life update was canceled or made smaller just this morning, so we were able to log into Second Life this morning for the "Hit the Ground Running: Making the Most of Your Second Life" -- a preconference workshop for the 2007 NMC Summer Conference. There is a wiki set up with some resources.
Our room full of relative Sl newbies got lessons in navigation, communication, editing appearance, sharing notecards, etc.

A brief update on the planned sessions of this week's NMC Summer Conference that will have several sessions connected to Second Life - to simplify the "finding" we have decided to hold all of them in the same location- the new Red Rocks Amphitheater at Research Park (39,18,45).
You can find on the screens here, and elsewhere on NMC Campus, a schedule of the live events that will take place in Second Life.
If you are at the conference, you will ... more » »

You have to be an edge seeking heat seeker to rely n Second Life- its great when everything works, and will turn your hair white when it fails you. Fortunately, we have plenty of people who are affiliated or friends with NMC Campus who fly in the face of that uncertainty.
An example this week was Larry Pixel's presentation using SL as a vehicle to present to a RL audience at SUNY when weather foiled his travel plans. With scant ... more » »

Next week, June 6-9 is the NMC's 2007 Summer Conference in Indianapolis. For those at the conference, there will be a good number of sessions of interest to those engaged in Second Life, and as best we can, we are aiming to bring a number of these into SL via video, audio, and a few dual sessions.
If you are coming to the conference, we have set up a number of optional times and places where you can meet up with ... more » »
