Use this form to create your new Second Life avatar and account, and to optionally join the NMC Community. Once the information is processed, you will receove an email confirmation and instructions for logging into Second Life. Your first destination will be the NMC Orientation island, where you will learn the basics of navigation and communication, and be greeted by other educators and mentors.

Your Second Life name is your unique in-world identity. You're able to choose your own first name and match it to a selection SL last names. Please choose your Second Life name carefully, since it can't be changed later. Common first names like "Bill" or "Mary" are likely not available, so be creative!

Join NMC Community (optional)

Access to most parts of NMC Campus is granted via a group that you can join within Second Life; this enables us to communicate to all participants who visit our campus. If you wish to be part of this community and receive notifications of future events, just check the box below and complete the extra form fields below.

I wish to join the NMC Community in Second Life

Since July 2007, 5216 people have created new Second Life accounts via this web site (see latest usage statistics).

This registration form is to enable educators to create new accounts in Second Life. Upon creation, these new avatars will enter the virtual world on NMC's own Orientation Island - a welcome center created specifically for educators. Beyond learning the basics of Second Life navigation, you will also find free educational resources and helpful colleagues as mentors. From here, we provide easy access to the many locations on NMC Campus and among our negihbors as well as landmarks to jump easily to the best of other educational destinations.

In addition, you have the option to join the NMC Community- we will provide instructions for how to join our in world groups that give you access to the NMC Campus. Plus you can elect to sign up to be on our mailing list for notifications of NMC events.

If you join the NMC community, we will use your email address only if you elect to receive notices of NMC events. We do not store your Second Life passwords in our web site- if you have lost your password, you can recover it via the the Second Life web site. If you do not kjoin the NMC community, the only information we store is a timestamp so we can track the usage of this service.
