Last night we interviewed for the NMC Studio One series, Jeremy Braver, who has a Real Life avatar named Jeremy Koester, an 8th grade math teacher from San Antonio Texas. As we had planned to talk a bit about the potential of machinima in Second Life, we had planned to meet on NMC Campus at the new Machinima Studio on Learning.

As it turns out, Jeremy arrived on time, but the grid was acting goofy, and I could ... more » »

We are long overdue to pick up the microphones and do another NMC Campus Studio One interview. Today, I talked (via Skype for audio) with Alpine Tendaze, a.k.a. Brent McConnell, who is an teacher with the Dubai American Academy. For me, it was 10:00 am while Brent was calling at 9:00 pm at night, but it was a nice sunny spot where we chatted on NMC Campus.

It's been a while since we've conducted a Studio NMC audio interview. Serendipity was working for us as we had an opportunity to be working with the Real Life representation of avatar Gudand Hao, who is scheduled to be our guest for the February 5 meeting of the NMC Campus Teachers Buzz.

Today, our Studio NMC took its audio equipment on the road, and we visited with Jeremy Kemp (Jeremy Kabumpo in SL) over at his Heart Murmur Simulation site, located in the Waterhead region of Second Life (find it via a slurl), which turns out to be some prime real estate, near Welcome Island and Path Finder Linden's neighborhood.
Jeremy "Kabumpo" Kemp... maybe his tag line is, 'I'm not a Doctor and I don't play one in Second Life'

Today's Studio NMC interview was with Lorenzo Stork (a.k.a Larry Miller, form University of Tennessee). We met up this morning in Second Life, and when I asked him for a favorite spot I could take a photo, his reply was, "You know, I really like to fly!"
In the audio interview below, Lorenzo share his obvious excitement for Second Life, and some of the places he has discovered on his explorations. He was especially intrigued by the Idaho Bioterrorism simulation. We ... more » »

It's been a while since we posted a Studio NMC podcast interview, so recently we tracked down Professor Beliveau, who in RL is Ed Lamoureaux from Bradley University. Professor is currently working on a 3 week multimedia course on research methods that he will conduct entirely in Second Life in January 2007. He is also writing up his progress on this venture here on the NMC Campus Observer; see Preparing to teach ethnography of communication to undergraduates in SL, ... more » »

With our recent opening of the virtual doors to NMC Campus, we hope to expand our series of Studio NMC interviews with folks that come on campus. IN these interviews, we use external audio technology, in this case Skype, to have a casual conversation as we visit some spot on the NMC Campus.
Yesterday we met up with Corwin Carillon, an admitted Second Life "newbie":
and spent some some time just chatting about Second Life, the barrier for entry, potential for future ... more » »

Today in Second Life, I met up with a hairy, not really scary avatar named Seb Basiat. Okay, don't let his appearance fool you--Seb is quite friendly and outgoing. Actually we did our audio interview yesterday via iChat; we were unable to meet up on Campus because Second Life was down due to upgrades. But we went back for some photos today to complete the session.

Studio NMC is our on-site "show" within the NMC Second Life Campus where we hope to post regular interviews, conducted within Second Life, with the people that use or visit the campus. We don't have "Katie and Matt" in front of the cameras but we sure have colorful guests.
Our first podcast interview was conducted during the April 20, 2006 NMC Second Life Campus launch, where we sat on the bench to chat with "Totally Vavoom":
