Discussion of Student Center Project
CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : Mar 24, 2008 09:31pm
AJ Brooks (aka AJ Kelton) has been coordinating a discussion of a project to create a in world location of students to gather, a virtual Student Center. We are offering a spot on the open NMC Orientation sim as a place to pilot this concept.
Details and the ongoing conversation can be found at
http://sorry-afk.blogspot.com/2008/01/sl-student-center.html
The spot we are considering is a part of NMC Orientation that has not gotten much use, the Waterside Cafe which was designed as an informal gathering spot.

It is not a huge space, but is rather private, and our builders are offering to customize it.
The most important aspect of this project is that this centralized Student Center is intended for ALL students in SL. This NMC island is open to anyone and so any student who wants to stop by, hang out, participate, meet others, etc… are welcome to do so.
So we are asking people interested in this concept to join us, and better yet, bring some students who can offer ideas as to how such a place might be used.
An in-world meeting will be taking place on Tuesday, March 25th at 11am PDT (Second Life Time). We will be meeting at the proposed location for the Center, on the NMC Orientation Island (69, 167,29). Follow the SLURL and then fly or walk toward the “red beam of light” in the northwest corner of the sim.
