Great Turnout for Todays Metanomics Series with Nick Yee
CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : Mar 17, 2008 09:53pm
It seems having an academic researcher on Metanomics brought in more viewers to NMC’s viewing location; we had over 25 avatars show up to watch host Robert Bloomfield interview Nick Yee.

Yee explained how his research at Stanford led to his position at the Palo Alto Research Center and discussed his interest in social interactions among avatars, how they are measured in lab, The Proteus Effect, and more.
Look for Yee’s papers such as “The Proteus Effect: The Effect of Transformed Self-Representation on Behavior”, “The Demographics, Motivations and Derived Experiences of Users of Massively-Multiuser Online Graphical Environments”, and “Motivations for Play in Online Games” as well the work of the PlayOn group.
If you missed this fantastic session, look for a recap soon on the Metanomics site or watch the video at SLCN.tv.
Remember, you can watch Metanomics live each Monday, 11:00AM PST at NMC Campus on the Outreach sim. And if you know of someone doing research in virtual worlds that should be a guest, let us know and we will pass on the suggestions to the show host.

I am glad to hear this was a success. *I* certainly learned a lot!
If NMC Members or Guests have any recommendations for academic speakers on Metanomics, please let me know.
