Plans Move Forward on Student Center Project

An in-world meeting took place on Tuesday, March 25th at the proposed location for the new Student Center project on the NMC Orientation Island (69, 167,29).  The gathering of students, educators and NMC staff was organized and facilitated by AJ Brooks (aka AJ Kelton, Montclair University).       A lively discussion resulted in the identification of a number of planning considerations for the center which included purpose, activities and design possibilities.  Students attending the meeting expressed an interest in a social space that would ... more » »

Calendar Expanded to include SLEDevents

The calendar link on this site has expanded from just the NMC Campus events (which is still viewable as its own calendar) to include all of the education events on the SLEDevents public calendar. Discussion of Student Center Project

AJ Brooks (aka AJ Kelton) has been coordinating a discussion of a project to create a in world location of students to gather, a virtual Student Center. We are offering a spot on the open NMC Orientation sim as a place to pilot this concept. We love Second Life, but in virtual worlds space we are keeping an eye on other platforms. Great Turnout for Todays Metanomics Series with Nick Yee

It seems having an academic researcher on Metanomics brought in more viewers to NMC's viewing location; we had over 25 avatars show up to watch host Robert Bloomfield interview Nick Yee. Yee explained how his research at Stanford led to his position at the Palo Alto Research Center and discussed his interest in social interactions among avatars, how they are measured in lab, The Proteus Effect, and more.
