Lyr Demos Gestures

We here at the NMC had a fabulous time hosting over the last 3 days the Symposium on Evolution of Communication over at the NMC Conference Center. There was so much for this dog to do that we were unable to keep up with posting updates… so this is to say, they are in the works.
The breakout sessions were superb, with highly participatory ones by Lyr Lobo, aka Cynthia Calongne, is to me, is the epitome of cleverly and gracefully using this environment at what it does best -in this photo she is teaching a large group of us how to “communicate” our body language in SL with gestures.
There is much more to collate and process– we were live video streaming all sessions to our overflow locations, and as such recorded them all, but they require a fair bit of post production. Rest assured, we will post them all soon, with first effort to make available the keynote presentation by Howard Rheingold.
Resources, links, videos etc are being collected and posted as we have them available at

Be sure to check out the Social Networking, the “Third Place,” and the Evolution of Communication.
Thanks to all who participated in the symposium (over 170) and keep your eyes out for the next one that should take place in April, 2008.
