Ooops, Late Announcement on Princeton Launch

CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : Sep 27, 2007 12:17pm

Late last week, one of our colleagues at Princeton University dropped us a notecard with some info on their activities this week for the opening of their sim at Princeton University (144, 148, 24) — actually it is a 4-plex of sims.

But we slacked, on getting the word out, but there is one more event tomorrow– Friday, September 28 at 1:30 SLT Thom Dowd performs live Renaissance and Baroque music at Alexander Hall.

There’s a lot to see on Princeton Island, though some have been a bit overly critical (read the comments for more in depth discussion). For anyone new to having a presence in Second Life, a key characteristic is to create good reasons for people to come there- just building a place is not enough. When we launched NMC Campus in early 2006, it took several months of efforts, promoting, generating events/activities before it became a place where there were green dots on the map.

Other events held earlier this week included:

Grand Opening, “Liquid Light” And “Aurora Room” And “Mare Aeternum” And “Alexander Beach/ Mare Aeternum, a Art/Sound installation by Juria Youshikawa and AldoManutio Abruzzo, MONDAY 9/24.

One illumination big, another small shimmer in the night at the newly opened Princeton University sim. Two experiments in light by Juria Yoshikawa are balanced by the deep ambient music and transformative sounds of AldoManutio Abruzzo.

Grace McDunnough hails from Atlanta, GA and was bred on an eclectic mix of folk, soul, alternative rock and blues. Grace throws down a variety of acoustic sets with an old guitar and powerfully raw vocals, cooking up old and new covers with a hand-full of her own original spice.

Tuesday, 9/25, Aldomanutio Abruzzo At Alexander Hall, Princeton University.
