Symposium on Creativity: Wednesday Highlights

CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : Aug 16, 2007 10:35am

The Wednesday schedule for the NMC Symposium on Creativity in Second Life was deliberately made more open, mostly to allow for possible downtimes for SL updates (and there was one in the morning), but also to give folks a breathing break! It’s been an exciting schedule, and maybe a bit over the top for those needing to get some Rl balance.

But the NMC Conference Center had some action, people were over in the Studio areas tinkering on projects, etc. By chance I ran into JoannaTrail Blazer, who has been an active participant it seems, in almost every session, and I took the opportunity to do a short in world interview to hear her perspective on the symposium (see below for audio, apologies for some audio distortion).

Interview with JoannaTrail Blazer

Be sure to see her exhibit in the Expo center with some cool green screen demos - Blending Realities @ the Center for Digital Media (Great Northern Way Campus)

At 4:00 Pm we invited folks back to the Expo center more or less to mingle and chat; we played a few more rounds of “Make a Friend With….” thanks Stella Costello, Ann Enigma, and Corwin Carrilon for playing (they each have at least 5 new friends, each of whom also got L$500).

There was an exhibit newly set up — Commencement 2007: Simultaneous In-World and Real-World Graduation highlighting their success in June of this year with live streaming in all of their graduation ceremonies into Second Life (see more info). Thanks AlanaClaire Decuir (aka Teshia Roby) for setting this up. — There is a nicely done video that outlines how this came to be, how the technical side was supported, and some great footage from the event (watch the video).
