Mon 20 Aug [6pm SLT] Teachers Buzz Goes Organic!

Corwin Carillon (aka Nick Noakes) : Aug 14, 2007 10:10pm

Not losing a stride from the fantastic NMC Symposium on Creativity in Second Life, Teachers Buzz kicks off next week with another not to missed session! Join Cosmo Priestman, Ourania Fizgig and ScubaChris Wollongong as they take use through The History of Earth & Life on Earth Exhibit which was created as part of a non-major undergraduate intro-astrobiology course, Exploring Life in the Universe.

Timeline View

Students in the ASTR202 (spring 2007) class helped to design and build a scale model installation work on the timeline of Earth, 4.6 billion years ago to the present. Embedded in this timeline are important landmark events in planet formation, geology, biology, and anthropology.

Ourania will tell us about the awesome things that happened, the areas where they had challenges and where its going now! We’ll get a tour of the major timeline areas and a free roam of the exhibit. But load up your interactivity belt with questions and comments to discuss the learning challenges and opportunities that semester long “student build” projects bring.

Timeline 1
Timeline 2

Please meet at LivingintheUniverse (30, 190, 251) by the large exhibit posters (big Earth image w/ construction icon).

Fortune Signs

The installation is currently being moved to a private island, and we may teleport there if it’s ready.

Please note the change in location to their permanent home on LivingintheUniverse island.

We’ve left plenty of breadcrumbs from the old location to the new location in the event that folks go to the older Fortune Bay landmark. The move was nice though, and we now have full prims and full access for the sim.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone tonight!
