Videos about Second Life provide a powerful way to communicate the experience to the uninitiated and are great resources to have available for being able to talk about projects or reasons to be in SL. Like last year, we will be "reprising" the poster sessions from the 2007 NMC Summer Conference on NMC Campus. They will be available for viewing July 20-27 on the "Green", the open lawn area surrounding the Gonick Amphitheater, and we are inviting as many presenters as we can to be available on Friday, July 20, 1:00-3:00 PM SLT/PDT) so you can talk to them about their projects.

We've been eagerly awaiting the capability of voice communication here on NMC Campus, going back to March when we did some beta tests with an early version on the beta grid. As many know, our typical communication in SL is text based chat/IM, and any audio communication has required use of outside software with honestly un-even results.

Last Sunday and Monday, a group of graduate students from Pepperdine University’s Online Masters Degree in Education (OMET) coordinated an event and dialogue on the topic of "Choice" in Education, hosted on NMC Campus's Teaching 2 amphitheater.
The Monday night session was slotted as a time for the NMC Campus Teacher's Buzz Session to participate. Regretfully, in RL, this dog was rather sick and missed the event. Fortunately, event organizer Angelique Jano provided a bit of recap:

To celebrate their new home on NMC Campus Teaching sim, Monroe College is inviting you to put on your western duds and join them for a whole day of activities Sunday, July 22. In fact, they will include a hay ride tour to their neighbors on this educational rental island.

We're just making the preliminary announcements, so for your calendaring pleasure, the NMC will be offering a week long online symposium, completely in Second Life, focused on creativity in this virtual space. This will take place August 12-18 on a new sim at here- the NMC Conference Center (currently under construction).
