I was one of the participants in yesterday's first meeting for Dan Undertone's (aka. Zellner) workshop on Theater in Second Life. Fortunately, as advertised, there was no experience required as my last on stage appearance (RL) was in the third grade.

Students in the virtual worlds promotions class at Trinity University have been hard at work this semester on SLeuth, a social networking service for Second Life. They will share their experiences and insights on Tuesday, May 8th, from 8:00 am to 9:15 am (PST) in the ampitheater on Metaversatility Island. The NMC is interested in learning more about the ever growing number of educators who are using or exploring Second Life. To conduct some research, we have just launched a 42 item, anonymous online survey aimed at educators (faculty, staff, student, administrator) who have an active Second Life account. Our questions aim to get an understanding of their SL preferences, behaviors in Second Life, their current or future planned educational activities, and some demographics/technology use of this group.

In the Teachers Buzz meeting last Monday, it turned out that quite a number of the 35 avatars in attendance are teaching or mentoring on the teen grid. The three presenters, KJ, Clare and Victoria are conducting their research at least in part on the teen grid, so this is perhaps not so surprising. We got a handful of requests from our colleagues "down under" for a more friendly time to participate in Dan Zellner's Second Life Theater Workshop. Dan has graciously offered to hold a second section, this one starting Sundays, 6:00 PM PDT.
