This is extremely late notice, but we have good reason. Larry was scheduled to deliver an in person keynote presentation for the Conference on Instructional Technologies, the State University of New York’s most prominent event on instructional technology in education. The conference, now in it’s 16th year is hosted by SUNY Plattsburgh, located in Northern New York. The theme for this year’s conference is Technology and the Future of Academe.

However, some very bad weather system made it impossible to make the flight to the conference location. While brainstorming ways we could have him do a remote presentation (video via web cam, skype video chat), it became obvious we had an excellent vehicle in presenting via Second Life on NMC Campus- we can stream audio live, and load slides on the screens. At the conference location, they can project the scene, and have a full conference experience.

Plus if you are not in Plattsburgh, you can now sit in on this presention.. which is in about 7 hours from now!

In this keynote presentation to the 64 assembled SUNY colleges, Larry will look to the past as context for the future. He’ll use the research, processes, and findings of the 2007 Horizon Report to set the stage for a discussion of key emerging technologies to watch.
