Eduserv Foundation Symposium: Attend in SL
CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : May 8, 2007 10:57pm
This Thursday, the NMC Teaching 2 sim will be one of three sites in Second Life where you can tune into the Eduserv Foundation Symposium- Virtual worlds, real learning?. In the US, you will need to be a night owl, since this UK event, taking place during the work day in London, is going to be between 1:00 and 9:00 AM PDT.
This year’s symposium will attempt to look past the hype surrounding virtual worlds such as Second Life and evaluate whether they offer real opportunities for learners at UK educational institutions. The symposium is intended for policy makers, practitioners and technologists working in the areas of information and communications technology and e-learning service delivery in UK HE and FE institutions.
All the presentations during the day will be streamed live into Second Life and on the Web. There will be three virtual venues at which the streams can be viewed:
- The Virtual Congress Centre on Eduserv Island.
- The auditorium on Cybrary City.
- The outdoor teaching space on NMC’s Teaching 2 sim.
See the full program for a lineup of speakers and sessions. For details, please contact Art Fossett in world.
