NMC Online Conference Happy Hour: (don’t) Pass The Salsa!
CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : Mar 22, 2007 05:22pm
Towards the end of yesterday’s NMC Conference on the Convergence of Web Culture and Video we took a break from the web-based conference for a Happy Hour on NMC Campus in Second Life.

We had hoped for another round of live music from Johnny99 Gumshoe, but apparently his helicopter had some mechanical issues and he could not make it. So Larry Pixel cued up some great salsa music, and he just relaxed a bit (and a big thanks to the magic of Lyr Lobo’s dance gadget, who had all in perfect choreography).
Like yesterday, we grabbed a little bit of video, and set it to some music for your enjoyment - [3 Mb QuickTime video]
After this, we returned to the conference for the closing keynote by Angela Thomas, speaking to us live from Sydney (where it was mid-day the next day). She treated us to a fabulous tour of ideas under the umbrella of “Evocative Spaces and Aesthetic Grabs: How YouTube and Video Blogging are Redefining Self Expression”, and using a liberal number of interesting video examples, many of them form Australia, as examples. Like I never knew there was a “war” over vegemite!
