Johnny99 Rocks NMC Online Conference Reception
CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : Mar 21, 2007 03:12pm
This morning, as part of the NMC Online Conference on the Convergence of Web Culture and Video (an old style flat web format conference) NMC hosted a virtual reception in Second Life. We met in the red carpeted lobby of the new Machinima Studio building, had a go with the people tagging ice breaker activity, and then moved to a stylish new ballroom where Johnny99 Gumshoe streamed a set of his rockin’ guitar jams.

The new ballroom was rocking!

We recorded some audio (still in the studio) and quickly grabbed 60 seconds of machinima (and showing my rookie status, I forgot to hide the interface elements).

We had people dancing, partaking of refreshments, playing along with the piano, and even had friends like Lyr Lobo helping a group do a choreographed dance.
It was a real hard task to pull out of Second Life to go into a web-based conference.
How strange a time it is.
