Maybe it was the topic of digital storytelling. Perhaps there was an allure of the mystery behind "Who is Gudand Hao?". Whatever the draw, we were pleased at the crowd of more than 65 avatars who showed up for today's NMC Campus Teachers Buzz Session.
We apologize for those who tried and could not get to our location.... there was some night before scrambling as we figured out the first spot we picked was in an area that would not take ... more » »

Our apologies for doing this last minute, but the NMC Campus Teachers Buzz Session scheduled for Monday, Feb 5 (featuring Gudand Hao talking to us about Digital Storytelling) had to be moved to a different location.
It was our mistake, but the first spot we scouted is actually on a part of NMC Campus that could only accommodate 20 avatars, and we expect a lot more! So we just found a better spot, on one of NMC's new sims, Learning (225,252,22) ... more » »

Today I gave a campus tour to Doctor Tower, actually one avatar representing a group of people at the University of Michigan 3D Lab -- remember these are the folks we mentioned a few days ago who have developed the stereoscopic viewer for Second Life based on the open source SL code.
Apparently they were projecting their view of the SL world on some really large high resolution monitor, which they reported made the buildings just gleam gorgeously. We did audio ... more » »

While browsing around today, we came across this nifty YouTube video. In it, people from Crescendo Design demonstrate how they have been using Second Life as a professional tool in their real life practice.
This is a project of an interesting blog, the ARCH, which is providing case studies of other architects, urban designers, and planners whoa re using Second Life.
And as a hint to a future NMC Campus Teacher's Buzz Session, on March 5, Tab Scott will be visiting to ... more » »

I could not resist liking this poster created by Brian Fox, "a Massachusetts based artist specializing in portraitures specifically sports art portraits and celebrity portraits." Apparently he includes dogs in these categories, which is okay by me.

I was checking out the exhibit in the Aho Gallery featuring the paintings and works of Brian Fox. The size of them as displayed really makes them feel bigger than (real) life!
