Teacher’s Buzz: Storytelling in SL Part II
CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : Feb 19, 2007 09:27am
Today/tonight (maybe even tomorrow depending where you are in RL) is the next meeting of the NMC Campus Teacher’s Buzz, or exactly, the meeting is 6:00 PM PST (check your local time).
Our last meeting on February 5, with Gudand Hao, brought out a record, perhaps overwhelming crowd, for a first round discussion on digital storytelling and potential in Second Life. Because this hit a chord of popularity, we thought we would follow it up with another round of conversation. Tonight, Troy McLuhan, SL guru behind the International Spaceflight Museum and other science-related activities in Second Life, has agreed to help lead the conversation.

So again, we will gather around our campfire, and talk about telling stories, teaching, and what it means in Second Life. Or perhaps, someone will show up and try telling a story? Let’s hear more ideas about how one would use, create, or build activities around storytelling in Second Life.
For this meeting, we are setting up some more established seating, to quell some of the chaos of sitting and seeing. Our NMC Campus builders have some plans to build us a regular meeting area here, but for tonight, Corwin Carillon has brought in some ringed seats.
Ah, yes, the location! You can get to our location on Learning (222,245,23) or via SLURL. Should we get more than 60 avatars (wow), you can also try teleporting in to the adjacent sim at NMC Campus 1 (243,7,23), and you should pick up the chat standing behind the flagpole.
Also, as an ongoing notice for our meetings:
- The chat sessions are public, recorded and put on the NMC Campus Wiki and linked from here.
- We ask that you turn off all scripts and animations, especially ones that leave messages in the chat archive.
