Bradley University professor Dr. Ed Lamoureux (aka Professor Beliveau) continues to get some great press for the class he is preparing to hold entirely in Second Life, on NMC Campus, in January. IN today's Peoria Journal Star, Professor B is highlighed in "A whole new world".
For this three-week, interim communications class, Lamoureux and eight students will, from their own personal computers, all log on to secondlife.com at the same time each day and maneuver their online, video-game-looking personas - ... more » »

I am rather disappointed I missed the one day exhibiting of the sculptures of StarAx, which were set up Sunday in one of the empty sims slated for the NMC Campus expansion. Our Aho Museum curator, Tayzia Abattoir, had set up more than 30 pieces of amazing artas part of the grand opening of all of her new content in the Aho Museum.
During the opening, Ravenelle Zugzwang, a friend and colleague, spoke a few words about this Second Life artist:

Wow, there was a lot of activity and avators on campus Sunday for events of the Impact of Digital Media Symposium. Unfortunately, this reporter spent all day in RL, and missed the big opening in the Aho Museum for the "Art of Second Life", but we hear that we had some great crowds.
This opening represents some fabulous work by our curator who recently took over managing the museum exhibits, Tayzia Abattoir, who has filled the main museum and satellite ... more » »

We forgot to mention one more important event taking place today on NMC Campus. At 2:00 PM SLT/PST, Campus CEO Larry Pixel will be providing a press conference to share the expansion plans for the campus. The present campus and buildings will remain at the center, but the additions include two new major complexes for both science and visual arts, and numerous new places for formal and informal interaction.
We can tell you know that the sims have been purchased, ... more » »

There are currently 7,000 people in Dallas, Texas attending the 2006 National Educause conference (I happen to be one of them). Due to a busy conference schedule I have missed many of the events on the NMC campus but have been busy working with the contributors of Slatenight to put together an exciting morning as part of this symposium on October 20th (be sure to check the wiki for more details).
Even though there were no sessions on virtual ... more » »
