StarAx Retrospective: in Machinima

CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : Oct 17, 2006 02:48pm

I am rather disappointed I missed the one day exhibiting of the sculptures of StarAx, which were set up Sunday in one of the empty sims slated for the NMC Campus expansion. Our Aho Museum curator, Tayzia Abattoir, had set up more than 30 pieces of amazing artas part of the grand opening of all of her new content in the Aho Museum. During the opening, Ravenelle Zugzwang, a friend and colleague, spoke a few words about this Second Life artist:
Starax was a friend and mentor for so many people. I was lucky to be one of them. There are so many sculptures that he created that are my “favorite”. I have many fond memories of my first trip to the Backstage sim and some of those pieces are here on display … thank you Tayzia for contacted the owner of those pieces. They are a rare and memory filled treat. His work is so very detailed, it is in those hundreds of prims that the magic sits. How many times did I look at his work and become touched this last year was so much fun with the wand it was around Christmas / New Years, He sent us all an update. I was so excited as always, any time you got a wand update, it was definately a present, so I quickly grabbed the new copy and put it on. I looked at that list of new keywords and I noticed Sorrow? How could he add this… right before and during the holiday? So… I went to scorn him over this but he wasn’t there and he didn’t log in for a few days and this touched me. I cried. With these simple prims we all use to build, he got to me right in my heart. That is the magic of his builds and I hope as you all look to them displayed you find and recapture some of the magic for yourselves.
Fortunately, RacerX Gullwing was there with a camera, and provided for us this 6 minute video with some highlights of this special exhibition on StarAx. This video is also available as QuickTime: And it can be found as well on the following video sites: See also the flickr slide show from Danielle.
