Wow, what a great second day for the Symposium on Impact of Digital Media — our data shows for our late afternoon event, we had 69 avatars present and over the day we had 85 unique avators on campus.
Today’s main screen featured the Global Kids in Second Life video that highlights the great work this project is achieving over in the Teen Grid.

Global Kids in Second Life video plays on the main stage
We’ll be hearing more from Global Kids on Monday. Remember as you view our videos and participate in the activities, please be thinking about the symposium themes and provide some answers to the discussion questions posted in the wiki. Your responses can directly reach and inform the authors of the MacArthur Foundation Series on Digital Media.

Henry VIII makes an appearance in te NMC Campus Library and revels in sharing about his life.
At 5:00 PM we had our first live event, a visit from Henry VIII to the Library, courtesy of our colleagues at Info Island. Henry told us all about his life, and deftly dealt with the audience heckling. To see what you missed, we have posted a transcript from the chat session and a slide show from the session.
Our Second Life Librarians have arranged an awesome amount of new exhbits for this event, so be sure not to miss the other new displays and content they have installed there such as the exhibit on the Declaration of Independence from the Library of Congress American Memory collection.
So what is on tap for tomorrow? Keep an eye on the schedule, but visit all of the NMC facilities with video screens (Gonick Ampitheater, Jacob Hall, and Woolsey Hall) for our Machinima Day- a tribute to the creative expression of creating movies within Second Life. Let us know what your favorites are by commenting on this blog!
And at 11:30 AM is an exciting live event. Dan Undertone (aka Dan Zellner in RL from Northwestern University) will be presenting on experiments on Second Life Acting by introducing Movement and Basic Exercises. Look for this action on the stage of the Gonick Ampitheater.
And we are excited as we have some of our first entries in the Impact of Digital Media Photo Contest! Check out the posters near Gonick Ampitheater and the Aho Museum (they will dispense a notecard with the contest details). There is L$5000 for the top rated photo and other big cash prizes.
