NMC Campus "Teacher’s Buzz Session" Aug 21, 2006
Last night was our first gathering on campus for the NMC Campus Teacher’s Buzz Session. What a wonderful turnout with at least 24 avatars gathered around the campfire, with visitors from the U.K. (at 2:00 AM! woot to AngryBeth Shortbread for staying up late) and co-facilitator Corwin Carillon from Hong Kong (where yesterday it was tomorrow morning).
Pretty much this was a session of introductions, folks expressing their interests in teacing in Second Life, and a pile of ideas for future discussion topics. You can find on our Buzz Session Wiki:
- full transcript from the chat session
- a first cut attempt at a summary
- some photos
Topics registering the most interest included (someone chime in if I missed something):
- Dealing with frequent software updates (challenges for students, computer labs)
- concepts of game design
- use of audio teachnology in SL
- machinima (creating video in SL) workshop
As a nice closing, we got a great view of the big new issue of Slate Magazine, where Daneille Damone’s article on NMC Campus was front and center.
