New Building on Campus
Originally uploaded by NMC Second Life
Hmmm, a new domed building has appeared on campus. located where the scale model of NMC Campus previously resided. What might it be?
Hmmm, I just spent 4 days immersed totally in RL (away from a fast network connection), and missed this nice surprise that has landed on campus.
Sitting in a location where originally there was a scale model of the NMC Campus (the one Electric Sheep Company built as the campus was in a design stage), is our newest exicting feature– a planetarium!
From what I understand, this was a very nice gift to us from our new friends at the Internatioal Space Science Museum.
Step inside the small domed building, and with one click, you can set the stars in motion. Scripts built into the building will explain some of the alignments, and also check with you on your understanding (I did not do so well, I was just so amazed at the potential of this place).
Look for it in a small area between the Spohrer Center and the Brown Library (between numbers “1″ and “8″ on any of the campus maps).

Thanks for the writeup about the planetarium! I’ve just added an item to our blog about another permanently loaned exhibit from the International Spaceflight Museum, our model of the Voyager I spacecraft. That is now installed on the roof of the Brown Library at NMC Campus.

Thanks Kat! I had notice it today out of the corner of me eye… wondering who put a dish on top of the library? And how cool it was when I flew up there and saw the Voyager model, beautifully constructed down to the gold engraved plate. I had to exit before getting some new photos, but will be back tomorrow.
Voyager brings back special memories of devouring the coverage of its epic journey in National Geographic and other print magazines, and the notion that not only were we sending out a remote explorer to the edge of our system, it carried a message of our people (cue the music!)
We appreciate much the things you have shared and we look forward to future collaborations.

Voyager I at NMC Campus
At the request of Larry Pixel, CEO of New Meda Consortium (NMC), and with the builder’s permission, the International Spaceflight Museum has loaned NMC a copy of the Voyager I model built by Helori Pascal.
