This is part two of my posts, providing some more of my experiences in the process of making arrangements for teaching an undergraduate course in SL. Part one described my motivations and outlined background for organizing the class. This post will detail my efforts at coming up to speed in SL in preparation.

This morning we hosted visitors from Seton Hall University (see our flickr slide show. Colleagues Danielle Damone and Heidi TeeCee sheperded a group of faculty into Second Life and NMC Campus (read Danielle's column about this tour).

A new musical art installation from Robbie Dingo- it senses the text chat and generate beat music based on the words. It is utterly fascinating.
We have an amazing new concept piece in the Spohrer Center- whisperBox by Robbie Dingo (the same creative mind that behind the musical instruments in Huntley Hall).
It is a challenge to describe in words,- Robbie's note card refers to it as " a 21st Century Folk Song"

The NMC Campus has gotten some nice recognition in the last few days. A little pat on the back never hurts!

Our virtual fingers were crossed today, hoping that yesterday's Second Life melt down would not ruin our rescheduling of our NMC 2006 Conference Poster Reprise.

This reporter was right on the scenes today as Second Life crashed horribly right at the time we expected to start our NMC Campus Poster Session. The Campus staff were already concerned when we found out earlier this week that Linden labs was shutting down Second Life from 8:00am-12:00pm (SLT/PST) for an upgrade, leaving not much of a windows for those we had invited to be on campus early before the 1:30 PM start of events.
