Studio NMC Launches Podcast Interview

CDB Barkley (aka Alan Levine) : May 9, 2006 10:45pm

Studio NMC is our on-site “show” within the NMC Second Life Campus where we hope to post regular interviews, conducted within Second Life, with the people that use or visit the campus. We don’t have “Katie and Matt” in front of the cameras but we sure have colorful guests.

Our first podcast interview was conducted during the April 20, 2006 NMC Second Life Campus launch, where we sat on the bench to chat with “Totally Vavoom”:

Interview with Totally Vavoom

Totally shares her first impressions from the April 20 campus opening and you can hear in her voice that some ideas are just beginning to percolate.

If you are spending any time on the NMC Second Life Campus or have been bringing guests in to explore, we’d love to chat with you for a few minutes and interview you “in world”. Just drop us a line and we’ll set up some time to sit on the podcast bench.

Well, the ideas are still percolating. The key question is, just what would be the core objective for the students in the first year seminar class to achieve and learn while exploring SL? It’s so much easier to come up with a concrete goal if one is teaching Math, or gaming ethnography. So the thinking cap is still on in terms of creating activities that would eanble students to develop skills in critical reasoning or higher inquiry within this environment. Suggestions or recommendations anyone?
